This is a letter of response on the subject of Vermont Attorney General Clark and more than 300 Vermont lawyers who gathered in Burlington, Vermont earlier this month to rally and protest against the Trump administration.
Why are Vermont Attorney General Clark and more than 300 Vermont lawyers blaming the Trump administration for the ongoing lawless choices and irresponsible spending of the majority of Vermont elected government officials?
For the past several years, a majority of Vermont elected officials have chosen to ignore the authority of US Federal laws and our US and State Constitutions as they have enacted Vermont state laws and policies. Vermont’s ongoing over-spending problem and reliance on Federal monies have also been ignored by the majority of Vermont elected officials.
Unlike previous US presidential administrations, the Trump administration is now enforcing US Federal laws that have been unenforced for years. The enforcement actions of the Trump administration have exposed Vermont’s US Federal law violations. The corrections needed to rectify Vermont’s ongoing violations have been communicated. The Trump administration has also communicated potential consequences if the circumstances necessitate them.
The Trump administration is also working to make some corrections to our US government’s fraud, waste, abuse and over-spending problems; along with addressing our very large US deficit of over 36 trillion dollars. As a result, spending cuts of US Federal monies have been enacted reducing the amounts distributed to US states including Vermont.
Many Vermonters have first-hand awareness of Vermont’s long-standing spending problem. A majority of Vermont elected officials refuse to be economically responsible about Vermont state spending. As US Federal spending cuts are enacted; there have been consequential effects to Vermont due to unrealistic state spending and reliance on US Federal monies.
It is tragic to hear there are so many Vermont lawyers who agree with Vermont Attorney General Clark’s distorted view of the Trump administration’s enforcement of Federal laws. As AG Clark and her Vermont lawyer followers publicly rallied to protest, they showed their opposition to Vermont’s responsibility to adhere to our US Constitution. This action by a US State Attorney General and more than 300 licensed lawyers defies logic, and common sense.
Are law schools now omitting the teaching of our US Constitution as the foundational law of our United States of America? Or are these so-called lawyers really activists pretending to be lawyers while seeking their own self-serving, lawless results? Ethical, honest and trustworthy lawyers will show respect and acknowledge the authority of our US and State Constitutions.
The Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Paragraph 2) is one of the most important provisions of our United States Constitution. It establishes that Federal law is the supreme law of our country and, must be followed by state courts and government officials. As each state joined the United States of America, they agreed to abide by the United States Constitution.
Below is a partial list of Vermont’s ongoing Federal law violations:
∙ Vermont’s ongoing actions as a known sanctuary state – Violates US immigration laws
∙ Vermont’s ongoing actions to harbor illegal aliens providing taxpayer resources of housing, food, transportation, medical, legal, education, employment, driver licenses, etc. – Violates US immigration laws
∙ Vermont’s ongoing actions to allow illegal aliens to vote – Violates both the US and Vermont Constitutions on the declared requirements of voters to be US Citizens
∙ Vermont’s ongoing actions to allow DEI policies throughout the State of Vermont– Violates US civil rights law
∙ Vermont’s ongoing actions to allow gender dysphoric males to participate in female sports – Violates US civil rights law
∙ Vermont’s ongoing climate laws and actions to institute regulations over air quality and emissions – Violates the US EPA laws and jurisdiction
∙ Vermont’s ongoing laws and actions that allow racism – Violates US civil rights law
Rather than advising and leading to make corrections to Vermont’s ongoing lawless actions, our Vermont Elected Attorney General Ms. Clark, the highest Vermont elected law enforcement officer has chosen to publicly display her radical ideology of lawlessness.
AG Clark chose to gather with more than 300 Vermont lawyers to publicly play the victim; to deflect, blame, and attempt to project Vermont’s existing legal and financial problems onto the Trump administration. Those who choose to think critically, and look deeper beyond the spin, gaslighting and lies, clearly see what is happening.
The majority of our Vermont elected officials including AG Clark are derelict and in violation of their Oaths of Office. They ALL committed and promised to: “Faithfully execute the duties of their position; to do equal right and justice to all persons according to the law; under the pains and penalties of perjury.”
Vermont Elected Officials didn’t expect to be held accountable by the US Federal government. Reality confirms that all choices and actions eventually have consequences. President Trump is not the “cause” of Vermont’s present financial and/or legal problems, but he is the Exposer.

Self important, unintelligent snots should all be voted out of office…..
by all of us soon: Just vote for “the other guy” the challenger..always. D Morrisseau
Excellent article, and all SO true. Believe me, I wish it wasn’t true! Those are the folks that have succeeded in ruining our (once) wonderful state. Best I say no more, so “fill in the blanks”!
Another elephant not mentioned in the room is our flouting of US narcotics law. So brazen is our state’s disdain for federal drug laws that we elected a commercial pot grower to the office of Lt. Governor.
maybe us attorney general bondi needs to have a chat with miss clarke. i would like to be a fly on the wall .
Excellent writing Ms. Gassett, and solud facts. I love when legislators say they didn’t vote for a bill orvthe budget in Committee or on the Floor, but when the budget bill comes up in the ladt week of the session and they vote for the budget. Well, well, guessvwhat you did vote for to pass the budget!
AG Charity, weak person, and clueless. She doesn’t respind to emails either. She just wants to jump on lawsuits against President Trump.
These people are violating our Vermont constitution every day under the Gold Dome. Question; How many legislators do you think have actually the US Constitution and the Vermont State Constitution? I bet not many. Truly sad.
Well said, Nancy!!!
Ms. Gassett writes the truth, simple and artfully crafted. What is astonishing is that a large majority of the state has no clue, either out of ignorance or of willful disregard as to the unconstitutional and unprofessional actions of the AG and the legislators and no one is bringing them up on violations of their oaths. Phenomenally astounding for what passes as acceptable in this state.
The installed, belligerent occupiers do not have a formidable foe or a cohesive opposition to their thievery, debauchery, or degeneracy. They do have a woeful, willfully ignorant voter base to sustain their cartel-like control and power structure. Do not expect anything to change until a majority of Vermonters admit and accept we have a significant and dangerous problem with our leadership and system of governance. Until then, watch it continue to implode into it’s own cellar hole while they continue to run their fraud and corruption scams with impunity.

I think I found the perfect clown “car” for them. A new Boeing, a gift from the Middle East. Fly them to Siberia, one way.
