Even though there was a downtown Burlington scenario where 12 individuals attacked a man in the wee hours of the night, kicking and beating him on the ground, we must be careful about using the “g” word to describe them. That term could evoke some racial or ethnic connotations that may make some progressive members of the community feel uncomfortable. The psychological scars of hurt feelings or the portrayal of Burlington as less than safe at any hour cuts deeper than multiple contusions and lacerations could ever do. “A loose association of youths who experienced a verbal misunderstanding” could be more a more appropriate description, since they were likely just on their way to the public library or to a volunteer gig at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen. Everything’s fine in Burlington, folks! Come on down and experience the vibrant Church Street Marketplace, and dont worry about the kid you just moved up here for college!
How dare you use the word “Gang” That is a forbidden word in the Emerald city.
Another person was approached and ” assaulted ” in Burlington by a gang of about 12 individuals, I can’t wait until a few of these little darlings are on their way to the hospital, after they try to assault the wrong person, and this will happen…….Karma.
Oh yeah, they are young, they’ll heal, and maybe they’ll learn………………….Nah !!
CHenry, hospital? Nah, not if the correct caliber is used, in reference to a DIFFERENT G word!
Imagine that! More crime at the expense of diversity! Now I’ll say it because so many hate it. ” Gang! Gang! Gang! Gang! Gang!” Enjoy the diversity!
“police are unsure of the exact makeup of the gang….”
I bet I could make a damn accurate guess.
And the city council wonders why people aren’t flocking to burlington to shop and dine out now. Maybe a change of the city council would be a help.
One comment I heard was the call has gone out to activate the installed cells. The incident in Burlington coincides with numerous sadistic acts of mayhem and violence across the country the past few weeks. It does coincide with the closing days to selection day – which no matter how that turns out – there will be more mayhem and violence because it is set up to be that way no matter the results. When our country is contolled and owned by foreign entities as European nations are discoverying now…best be prepared and fortified – no one knows for sure who or what is running the USA store – that in of itself should chill many to the bone.
Must we wait until these gangs start commandeering entire apartment buildings before we question if diversity really is our strength???
