By Robert Fireovid
I’m a retired Federal employee, and I don’t understand the derangement about the current efforts to downsize the Federal workforce.
In my day, it was called a “reduction in force.” For sure, almost no one likes losing their job. But it’s a fact of life in a free society, and I’d much rather be a free individual in a free society than a hamstrung subject in a socialist society.

In addition, in my view, being a civil servant, aka working for the common good, is a great honor. And if the President decides that the country is better off without my services, then so be it.
However, the unhinged rantings of many Vermonters about the Trump Administration’s actions are over the top. Rep Balint wails that our “democracy” and “freedoms” and “constitution” (BTW Becca, “Constitution” should be capitalized) are “under threat”.
Bernie Sanders jettisoned all his independent pretensions and is just another obedient soldier for the Democratic Party. His apparent priorities now include – Power to Big Ag and Pharma; keep RFK from reversing the childhood autism epidemic. Kill more Ukrainian and Russian men.
And it seems to me that Peter Welch will forever be a mere minion for the DNC’s handlers. My lefty neighbors are screaming that the USA is becoming a “dictatorship.” They’re going to anti-Trump demonstrations in Burlington or Montpelier.
I have a suggestion for the People’s Republic of Vermont. Secede. I’m serious. Ya’ll are very different from the majority of freedom-loving people throughout the rest of the USA. If you want to channel all your negative energy into something really meaningful – work to secede from the United States of America. Merge with Canada or Quebec – societies that align much more with your values.
The rest of the USA would welcome our departure. You’d have a lot more of those irritating conservatives moving to other states and bring in more disaffected liberals from those same states. It would be a win- win for everyone. Prove that you really are “different” (weird?). Stop whining and work to secede. Now.

Proud to be an Anti-Trumper. Stick, it, Fireovid. You are a joke!
No sure, but layoffs and firings is nothing new, it could be as simple as being over staffed, poor performance, misconduct, etc, etc.
The left is in complete meltdown, including Vermont’s very own ” three stooges “, we
start with our very own DEI hire Balint wails that our “democracy” and “freedoms” and “Constitution” are “under threat”, an educated Idiot !!
Then we have Bernie Sanders now this clown that was kicked to the curb by his DNC friends twice, and he still follows there agenda, Bernie you’ll never be invited into the DNC Tent !!, your a baffoon your only friends are Big Pharma !!
Then we have Peter ” The Follower ” Welch, what ever the DNC tells him he’ll stand front & center with their talking points, again looking like a buffoon !!
People’s Republic of Vermont, ” should not Secede ” , and Robert I’m serious also, we need to get Vermont to being Vermont and start by ousting the stooges we have in DC, and then get rid od the carpetbaggers, you know the progressives thay landed here after school and made a home in Montpelier……… Wake up people !!
Lets have an ” audit ” of the spending coming out of the ” Golden Doom ” yes doom, to the average taxpaying Vermonter…… Maybe just a balanced budget for starters, Nah, that’s why they hate things like DOGE …………………you’ll want some firing then !!!
I believe it was established, beyond question, that seceding is racist.
They can’t secede. Their caterwauling is because they depend on the fund flows from fed to state to insider NGO/501c grift. If that goes they get poorer.
They just don’t want to admit that “virtue” and “empathy” are their swords (give money for the hungry/addicted/stray dogs) and their shields (how dare you question the need for limitless federal money to tackle the stray dog problem… look at this poor puppy).
Thank you Mr. Robert Fireovid. The progressives can move to Canadastan.
Yes-thanks for the article. I agree with T W that the Progs should move to SOMEWHERE out of Vt.
Excellent perspective. Well said.
I agree, kind of like all the Hollywood anti-Trumpers who constantly state they will leave for Canada if Trump wins and yet somehow they are still hunkered down in their enclaves with the victory of 45 & 47. Go figure
Next weekend Vermont Succession will be represented at Cal Exit, an event fro successionists across the globe, Jim Hogue will be speaking about VT succession and Ethan Allen and Emily Peyton will be speaking about a path to economic succession and economic success of we the people of the Great Alliance of Awakened Private People, a global change of empowerment. I believe you can find the event on the CAL exit website.
Typical flatlander.
Moves to Vermont because of what we have and promptly tells us his opinion on why we need to change.
Well it is a good thing you retired before Trump could fire you Mr. Fireovid, now hopefully you will launder your federal pension money into the Vermont economy so the Vermont GOVIE and his tribe of extortionists can keep this state from going bankrupt.
Will not work…with Canada losing the American tit (You don’t bite the hand/tit that feeds you) and Trump playing tit for tat, in trade, and defense, Canada and Greenland will come to their senses, likely sooner than later, and we will merge as one, to insure our mutual survival against the rising and very real threat from China and their partners.
It’s just a matter of time…
Go ahead and move North but in my opinion, you’ll be going a long ways to flop[.
The only thing recently landed and harebrainwashed Vermont residents like better than green mountains is high taxes. Tell one of them you’re going to take every last cent from them and then run for office with a D after your name and you’ll be elected.
Good! Start with Burlington and Brattleboro and every other liberal bastion in the state and the rest of us with common sense will take Vermont back to a more moderate way of doing things.
Nope! We stay. We fight. We run for office. We take our state back—town by town! We take action rather than capitulate.
Don’t forget that 1/3 of VT voted for Trump last November, unlikely those voters would favor secession.
The Appalachian mountain range runs thru quite a bit of the Eastern USA. Do some of y’all Vermonters not have a map?
Vermont should secede they can fund their new country entirely with the revenue of maple syrup sales.
So wish Vermont would secede. Then maybe my husband would agree to leave this hell hole.
Thanks for a good article Robert Fireovid
For me, it is my wife. My children left 20 years ago.
All I have to say is, if anyone is going to secede, make it just Chittenden County. Their “politics” are much better aligned with Montreal that with either the rest of Vermont or the majority of the country anyway.
I’m all for it!
My ancestors moved to Vermont in 1789. They built a republic which became a state. I got a good education there, then left. I don’t mention that Vermont is my native state to many people. It just draws laughter in the red state where my wife and I now live. You on the Left have destroy one of the gems of the US. May you learn to regret it.
lol
may you learn to move on and not be embarrassed by what others think of you and your past
