FEMA VT flood response weighed down by bloat

The Federal Emergency Management Agency spent more on administrative costs than on emergency assistance following the catastrophic Vermont floods in 2023, according to a news report by Vermont Public.

“Employees inside FEMA say they’re concerned not just about how much the agency is spending on itself, as compared to Vermonters in need. They are also alarmed at how little FEMA is accomplishing despite all its internal spending.”

The report comes as municipalities face an Aug. 18 deadline to buy out flood prone homes and receive federal and state assistance.

In recent weeks, selectboards in Bradford and Corinth have discussed taking advantage of the program for certain properties that sustained flood damage nearly one year ago. – Journal-Opinion, July 8

  1. Doesn’t surprise me… for the most part, government is a bloated welfare program paid for by the people in the private sector.

  2. f. e. m. a. ////forever//// endangering//// many///// americans/// this is a self promoting operation////

    • No kidding! It cost over a dollar to get a dollar into the hands of a disaster victim. 100 +% overhead is a disaster unto itself.

  3. Remember, FEMA was absorbed by the Department of Homeland Security in 2003. It didn’t even exist until President Carter enacted it in 1978. Since then, several layers of bureacratic nonsense ensued and lawfare warfare under the disguise of “mitigation” efforts. By the way, the federal defict is $34,889,981++ trillion because we have to send weapons, bodies, and money to Ukraine and Isreal, as well as pay, house and feed millions of illegal invaders into the USA.

Considering the war machine funding via DHS, Langley, and Pentagon, and all the disasters that have unfolded since our pesky flood of July 2023 (wildfires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes,) don’t be surprised there is no money coming from the Feds. Keep laboring away to feed the beast that won’t feed you or fix your damages.

  4. Just so typical par for the course when it comes to government programs. Always a complete failure. We need to get rid of all of them and we need to vote out the people who support them aka dems and progs.
