Enosburgh, VT — The search for 82-year-old Roberta Martin, missing since late Tuesday night, continues with intensified efforts by various law enforcement and rescue teams. She last communicated with her family by phone at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16. Neighbors reported her missing at around 11:55 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, after discovering she was not at her home on Butternut Hollow Road. Concerns for her welfare have prompted a thorough investigation.
Crews are focusing on the vicinity of her home on Butternut Hollow Road, where the Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team is meticulously processing the property. Detectives from the Major Crime Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigations are actively conducting interviews and gathering evidence.
Information obtained by investigators suggests that Ms. Martin’s disappearance is suspicious. However, to protect the integrity of the investigation, the Vermont State Police (VSP) have refrained from disclosing further details on the evidence.
Authorities are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Sand Hill Road and Butternut Hollow Road between 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, and 12 noon on Wednesday, July 17, to come forward with any relevant information. VSP has received several tips about individuals walking or jogging in the area during this period and seeks to identify and interview these persons. Those with information are urged to contact the St. Albans Barracks at 802-524-5993 or submit anonymous tips online at https://vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.
Ms. Martin is described as being in good physical and mental health. She is approximately 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 115 pounds, has white hair, and brown eyes.
The search operation involves the Vermont State Police Search and Rescue Team, K-9 Unit, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program, and uniformed troopers from the Field Force Division. The Victim Services Unit is also engaged. Additional support comes from the Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife, New England K9 Search and Rescue, and the Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team. The Enosburgh Fire Department and Enosburgh Rescue are providing logistical assistance, while the Franklin County State’s Attorney’s Office is actively participating in the investigation.
VSP has addressed the spread of false reports and potential scam posts on social media, advising the public that official information will only be released by the Vermont State Police
