The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets has published the results of a survey of agricultural businesses regarding the impacts of last year’s drought, the JO reports.
“Survey participants reported significant impacts to their businesses across Vermont’s agricultural industries, but the greatest impact was from production losses:
85% of respondents experienced lower crop yields or total crop failure
51% experienced insufficient pasture for forage
63% reported feed shortages going into winter 2025/2026
30% purchased and/or hauled water for the first time ever
7% reported reduced production from animals
“There were 198 responses, including 20 from Orange County and 19 from Caledonia County.
Three respondents from Corinth reported 670 acres were affected by drought, causing $325,000 in losses.”
In addition to the report, there is also a data dashboard of the survey results. More here.
