A Drag Queen Story Hour is scheduled to be held during school hours at an Addison County elementary school Friday, April 10. The event is sponsored and financially supported by the school PTO.
During a Drag Queen Story Hour, biological males who identify and dress as women read books to children, often in a public library setting at which attendance is the decision of the parents. The movement began in 2015 in San Francisco, according to a link provided in the school minutes. A 2022 article in City Journal explains the cultural tug of war occurring over DQSH:
“Drag Queen Story Hour—in which performers in drag read books to kids in libraries, schools, and bookstores—has become a cultural flashpoint. The political Right has denounced these performances as sexual transgressions against children, while the political Left has defended them as an expression of LGBTQ pride. The intellectual debate has even spilled into real-world conflict: right-wing militants affiliated with the Proud Boys and the Three Percenters have staged protests against drag events for children, while their counterparts in the left-wing Antifa movement have responded with offers to serve as a protection force for the drag queens.
“Families with children find themselves caught in the middle. Drag Queen Story Hour pitches itself as a family-friendly event to promote reading, tolerance, and inclusion. “In spaces like this,” the organization’s website reads, “kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where everyone can be their authentic selves.” But many parents, even if reluctant to say it publicly, have an instinctual distrust of adult men in women’s clothing dancing and exploring sexual themes with their children.”
The DQSH is part of an “identity unit” DEI week at Beeman Elementary School in New Haven. The minutes of the March 4 meeting of the local school board describe the April 10-15 Identity Unit activities:
● Friday April 10 – Sweethearts & Heroes – Inclusion – K-2, 3-5 (k-3, 3-6 assembly and breakout groups in the morning)
● Friday April 10 – Drag Queen Story Hour (1:00p)
● Monday April 13 – Duncan Tonatiuh
● Tuesday April 14 – Changing Perspectives
● Wednesday April 15 – A2VT (1:30p)
The Identity Unit also features a visit by the Vermont hip-hop group A2VT, and a reading by Duncan Tonatiuh, author of children’s books with Mexican and Mexican immigrant themes. $1000 in funds have been pledged to pay Tonatiuh for his visit, the minutes say. Sweethearts and Heroes was founded by a mixed martial artist and a wounded Army veteran to instill emotional intelligence in young people.
It is unclear from the minutes whether student attendance is required, or the extent of the parental opt-out from DQSH. The unit takes place during regularly-scheduled school days. The minutes provide the link to Dragstoryhour.org but does not specify the readers, nor how much/whether they will be paid.
According to the Vermont Family Alliance, a community member wrote to Superintendent Patrick Reen requesting he withdraw the program but received no response. Several community members planned to attend the Mount Abe Unified School District school board meeting in the library this week to express disapproval.

So freaking glad my kids are out of the public school system..If I were a parent with kids in this school I’d be yanking them out so fast it would make their heads spin.
SICK, PERVERTED, EVIL – my son went to Beeman from K-4th grade back in the late 80s/early90s and even back then things were headed in the so-called progressive direction. We left Vermont in 1999 and never regretted it. At this point I can only PRAY that there are enough decent families left in New Haven to stand against this filthy agenda.
How many of the students in that school are not proficient in math, reading and writing?
According to the Secretary of Education, most likely more than 50%.

We are being assaulted, tricked and manipulated by those running a deceptive game based upon the natural human trait fall for lust, instead of love, it’s rather clever deception.
How was it “suddenly” across all porn sites at the Covid lock down, all the porn went to interfamilial porn? Why is this still pushed on all the sites? Why is this? Why are no Vermont leaders speaking out about this?
Why are we not taxing this base entertainment at best? Is it because we don’t want to impede the “story hour?”
Want to know what is really going on, try reading the Book of John to children, then you find who is really behind all this.
I was put out of a poetry group for publishing a meme on my Facebook Timeline. The mem simply suggested that drag queens be asked why they want children sitting on their laps. One of the people running the group said that it demeaned gay men. I’ve communicated with drag queens who identified as gay men, not trans. They feel that drag shows are no place for children.
If this was 1692, the whole damned bunch of them would be accused and then lynched after being accused of being witches.
Any activity involving drag queens should be regarded by any person of common sense as a SEXUALIZED PERFORMANCE, not unlike stripping, pole dancing or simply pornography. Anyone who promotes it as expressive art and seeks to present such perverted trash to children should be regarded as engaging in child sexual abuse. Young children already live in a morally-confusing world and should NOT “defy rigid gender restrictions”. It is perfectly normal and responsible for any parent to “have an instinctual distrust of adult men in women’s clothing dancing and exploring sexual themes with their children”. If you want to expose your children to freaky garbage at home, then do it at your own risk, but to promote it in a public setting as normal and natural entertainment in the name of “diversity” is just plain pathological.
Indeed, women who did such would also be questioned.

One queer theory paper, I believe by Judith Butler, states that queer theory is about building feelings of kinship with children. The very definition of queer in this context is an identity without an essence, not male or female. From my perspective this is very destabilizing for young children. I believe this agenda, in addition to sexualizing children and replacing familial relations, is to prepare children for life in the Metaverse which is being built out to encompass all public/ private activity from education to finance and entertainment (video games) and legal services. In the Metaverse avitar identities are not confined by gender or even being human, such as furries. Ultimately, the Metaverse has to be inclusive of all possible identities and these identities can be changed. The Workd Economic Forum on it’s education page has a diagram of the Metaverse build out. I have a screenshot of the diagram. They are socializing children into this futuristic agenda. I have actually seen panel discussions at DAVOS where this agenda is discussed and some panel attendees reject the thought of their children being subjected to this existence. They want their children outside playing.

I am glad that my son isn’t in the public school system anymore. We are having this crap shoved down ours and our children’s throats. A man dressing up as a woman just to do so called entertainment. Students that Identify as cats are provided litter boxes in the school bathrooms etc. That is weird in itself. But when they want to read to children, why children, I am not sure that I want the answer to that but anyway here we are. But on the other hand, when adults or even children present the life changing gospel and tell people about Jesus who is the true love and He changes lives, which I might add I am one of them who’s live has been radically changed. But you try to tell someone about Jesus, and we are the weird ones! That is messed up.
Jane, why would you assume ill intent for why a story hour would be aimed at kids, like they should all be treated as predators for liking kids?. Imagine if every foster parent was assumed predatory, when most of us just want to help God’s children? Kids are the worst at times, but they’re also the best. That’s universally understood, even by the lgbt community.
