Don’t swim in the river

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The Vermont Emergency Management Operations Center is warning swimmers to stay out of rivers, following this week’s heavy flooding.

The weekend forecast calls for hot weather in Vermont. Despite that, everyone is encouraged to stay out of rivers. Currents are running high, and debris and pollutants are working through the system, creating unique hazards.

The Vermont Department of Health has a map of areas to cool off, including public beaches and air-conditioned public buildings. Please visit www.healthvermont.gov/hot-weather to access that map.

  1. Use common sense… some people only HAVE the water to cool off with… still waters are less dangerous than moving waters… and most of the water has been refreshed with this last storm… a pond or lake is safe…and if you can see the bottom of a brook… sit in it and dip… geesh. USE COMMON SENSE. COOL off if you need it… enjoy nature’s gifts… but be, as all outdoors people know… sensible.
If you can’t swim… stay out of it.

    • Common sense is as rare as hens teeth these days. I think the Commissioners of relevant agencies know the amount of raw sewage and toxins that have poured into the water ways – when they say “don’t do it” – they know people will anyway. Kinda like Kamala Harris telling the invaders “don’t come.” They don’t really mean what they say, they are paid to say it and pretend to care. Stay safe is code for please, kill yourself – our depopulation goal is hanging in the balance.
