Domestic assaults, DUI arrests made this weekend

Two domestic assault cases and multiple DUI arrests across Vermont were reported by state police this weekend.

Vermont State Police said Taqon Harris, 25, of Pittsford, was arrested early Feb. 1 following a domestic disturbance in the town of Pittsford. Troopers determined Harris caused pain and/or bodily injury to a family or household member. Harris was taken into custody, processed at the Rutland Barracks, and released on court-ordered conditions of release. He is cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division, on Feb. 2 at 12:30 p.m.

In a separate domestic assault case, police arrested Seth Monfette, 53, of Coventry, following a reported family fight that occurred the evening of Jan. 30 at a residence on Sylvester Drive in Coventry. Investigation determined Monfette caused serious bodily injury to a family member. Monfette was later located and taken into custody without incident, processed at the Derby Barracks, and ordered held without bail at the Northern State Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Orleans County Criminal Court on Feb. 2 at 12:30 p.m.

State police also reported multiple DUI arrests during the same period. Each incident is listed below:

  • Christopher Ardovino, 51, of Fletcher, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a single-vehicle crash on I-89 northbound near Exit 16 in Colchester at about 10:35 p.m. Feb. 1. His 2012 Audi Q7 was totaled. Ardovino is cited to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court on Feb. 19 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Corey Gunn, 35, of North Troy, was arrested on suspicion of DUI #3 after a trooper found his vehicle off the roadway on U.S. Route 5 in Irasburg. Gunn is cited to appear in Orleans Criminal Court on Feb. 2 at 12:30 p.m.
  • Leah Paulson, 26, of Petersburgh, N.Y., was arrested on suspicion of DUI #1 after troopers stopped her vehicle for multiple traffic violations on Route 7A near West Mountain Road in Shaftsbury at about 12:41 a.m. Feb. 1. She is cited to appear in Bennington Criminal Court on Feb. 23 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Alex Mackay, 33, of Littleton, N.H., was arrested on suspicion of DUI after police responded to a report of a vehicle off the roadway on I-91 north near mile marker 174. Mackay is cited to appear in Orleans County Superior Court on Feb. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Mollie Jo Shapiro, 38, of Northfield, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after troopers responded to a disabled vehicle on Route 12A in Northfield. She is cited to appear in Washington County Superior Court on Feb. 19 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Ruben Garcia, 43, of Waterbury, was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Stowe Street and East Street in Waterbury. Garcia is cited to appear in Washington County Superior Court on Feb. 19 at 8:30 a.m.

All individuals are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
