MONTPELIER, VT – VTGOP Chairman Paul Dame issued the following statement following revelations that two State Legislators were deeply involved in coordinating a disruption that was labelled as a “takeover” of a group that had reserved space at the State House last week.
“It is deeply regrettable to discover that instead of working on the issues Vermonters care most about Rep. Mari Cordes and Rep. Jubilee McGill used their positions as legislators in the State House to deliberately sabotage a peaceful informational meeting held by a group that shares a different perspective. Today I call on House Speaker Jill Krowisnki to consider disciplining Rep. Cordes and Rep. McGill for their role that created an unnecessary debacle for both the group who sought to use the space in the State House, as well as the Seargent-At-Arms who was forced into a difficult situation to restore order after the attempted “takeover”.
Legislators ought to hold themselves to a higher standard and while they certainly may have distinct policy preferences, their job should be to listen to all sides and come to an informed opinion. In this case these two legislators worked in an unusual way to incite and organize a “takeover” to prevent themselves and anyone else from hearing a particular point of view. If these legislators want to act like “rebellious” hardened activists, they should resign their position and leave it open to a Vermonter who is more open minded and is willing to listen to all perspective and respect the rights of people who think differently to express themselves.”
Below is a screenshot from a public facebook page outlining Rep. Cordes and Rep. McGill’s active role in organizing agitators to “takeover” the event and cause a “rebellious” disruption.

its time for the nonsense to end, thanks Paul
Vermont Legislators who are provocateurs? Working willfully and knowingly to surpress and deny civil rights? No honor among thieves or reprobates.
At this point in history, this disruption has to be regarded as an INSURRECTION.
Strongly worded letter, surely, they quake in thy boots.
They are reading the Vermont Daily Chronicle….cheers!
While the fact that legislators under the “Golden Dome” would perpetuate an act that would hinder, or prevent others 1st Amendment rights does not surprise me. It still never ceases to amaze me they do not consider turn around as fair play. Having said that, I believe there should be an investigation into this matter, and consequences applied to those who would abuse their position to quash anybody’s 1st Amendment rights. I’m sure if the shoe was on the other foot, they’d squeal like little piggies !
Thank you very much Paul. I was beginning to worry about the silence from the GOP regarding this set-up hatched by democratic legislators and the State House Sergeant at Arms.
Freedom of speech is one thing, but total disrumption of a meeting is another, when you act like a Jack-A, to get your point across, well that says it all.
Just watch the clip from that meeting total chaos, from these mentally deranged fools, and they want normal people to take there cause seriously….. yeah !!
If any elected official promoted this shame, they need to be removed from office and the Sargeant at Arms needs to be remover from her duties, as she allowd this nonsense to continue, was this freedom of speech, only in the mind of liberals.
VT, well you elected these inept clowns, year after year, Wake up people.
Thank you Paul Dame , for speaking out about this event. Discipline is definitely in order for these 3 woman.
On Wednesday March, 12, two highly contentious events (clean heat bill discussion and transgender issues), were happening at the state house. According to a Dec 2024 WCAX report, ‘Vermont Statehouse rolling out new security procedures ‘, there are now added security measures that can be put in place when it is felt that added safety to Vermonters may be in order. The only security I saw that day was a sign saying
“sh quiet please”
Part of the responsibility of Vermont’s Sgt. at Arms is the safety and security at the state house. Agatha Kessler was not FORCED into a difficult situation it was because of her inadequacies and failure to prepare that the whole event transpired.
Furthermore she lied to the attendees in rm 11 when she stated, (ON VIDEO ), that she was one person and did not have the resources to restore order.
Meanwhile, members of the Capitol Police Force, which are under Kesslers control, were STANDING RIGHT OUT SIDE THE ROOM!!! And, furthermore, she could have been proactive and implemented higher security measures for that day.
Rep. Cordes and Rep. McGill need to replaced immediately and Kessler needs to be questioned about her incompetence and possible involvement as well.
Absolutely.
Governor Scott and Lt. Governor seems very ok with this, otherwise they’d do something, other than send the attack bulldog to write such a strongly worded letter…….oh my.
I know, perhaps Dame should send these forceful letters to the drug dealers, to the thieves that run rampant across our state, that would stop them in their tracks!!!
Here, here, Strongly Worded letters and Kiosks bring Vermont Crime to complete stop! Three cheers for the VTGOP!!!!!!!
Need to send in the drug dogs to monitor the actions in the state house and require drug testing of all house and senate members including the GOVIE.
Thank you, Paul Dame!!!
Sad that our government has people like this! Please don’t vote for them again
