A VDC news story published January 2 incorrectly stated, in a statement attributed to Ben Kinsley of the Campaign for Vermont, that Sen. Martine Gulick (D-Chittenden) was a lobbyist for the Vermont School Board Association (VSBA). In fact, Sen. Gulick serves as an unpaid regional representative on the VSBA Board of Directors, representing the Western Chittenden Region. Members of the VSBA’s Board of Directors do not receive remuneration from the VSBA, a VSBA spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also said the VSBA is a non-profit member association with the following mission: Develop and provide systems and resources that support school boards and their members, informed through inclusive community engagement.

Every see other “news” organizations EVER print a correction? Kudos to VDC.
However, have to dig a bit deeper into this. Is this like the regional planning commissions that are unelected, yet seem to hold sway?
We only need ONE, ONE Superintendent for our school system, just like other large cities with populations larger than Vermont.
We clearly need building review and a new process for that, because for some reason only the Vermont Schools are unsafe for our children, every other building in Vermont, from 200- 2 years is safe for our children, but not so with our schools. And on top of the basic building upkeep has not been done for far too long. Condominiums have budgets for annual and upgrades, such that you aren’t slapped with a special assessment from nowhere, so too should be the case for our schools.
Boilers don’t last forever. Roofs need to be replaced. Painting and floors often need updating. This is not rocket science.
We have too many non-profits in Vermont, doing the bidding of lobbyists and special interests, perhaps this is not the case here. However, our school system is in complete shambles, so I suspect further investigation is warranted.
Yes, an important correction to making. If any know her stances on BLM, CRT, DEI, SEL, early elementary sex education, gender hormone treatments, having de-transistioning stories shared where ever gender transition stories are shared, the public should have a chance to know.
Great questions, perhaps there could be a follow up. Yes, let’s find out about her positions. What are her thoughts about the principal that was fired? Keep digging, keep asking, keep up we need more sunlight!
Headline fixed:
Fox [still] should not chair Senate Henhouse 😉
I am learning that Gulick did receive a paycheck from VSBA and that is enough to disqualify her from leading the education committee the opinion of the person who told me this.
