UK to treat ‘extreme misogyny’ as terrorism – Telegraph | 18 Aug 2024 | Extreme misogyny in the UK will be treated the same as Islamist and far-right extremism under a new government plan aimed at addressing gaps in the country’s counter-terrorism strategy, the Sunday Telegraph has reported. The move comes in response to rising violence against women in Britain. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has ordered a review of the strategy to combat violence against women and girls amid growing concerns that current legislation is too narrow, according to the paper. The updated guidance is expected to legally oblige teachers to refer pupils they suspect of extreme misogyny to the government’s counter-terrorism program, known as “Prevent.” Currently, teachers, healthcare professionals and local authority staff are required to make a referral to the program if they believe someone is susceptible to becoming radicalized.

Potential breach detected at military base of NATO member –German authorities have sounded the alarm over possible sabotage at a barracks near Munich, following similar suspicious incidents | 18 Aug 2024 | The German military has discovered signs of a possible break-in at a barracks in the southern part of the country, the latest in a series of suspicious incidents at army facilities in recent weeks, according to local media. In some cases, it was feared that the water supply had been deliberately contaminated. A gaping hole was found in the barracks fence at the Christoph Probst Barracks in the Bavarian town of Garching near Munich during a routine inspection on Thursday, Bild reported, citing a spokesman for the armed forces. The facility also houses the Central Institute of the Medical Service and a military hospital. The spokesman added that there was no evidence anyone had accessed the buildings on the facility’s grounds.

Shootings reported at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland between guards and passing vehicle | 17 Aug 2024 | U.S. Air Force security guards exchanged gunfire with someone who twice opened fire on an entrance to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland early Saturday, according to a spokesperson for the base. “It was an off-base shooting from a passing vehicle that fired shots towards the gate, prompting our security forces to respond,” base spokesperson Stefanie Antosh said in a statement. Antosh said the shooting was being investigated by San Antonio police, who said in a release that the first shooting occurred about 2:15 a.m. “The security personnel stated they heard several shots fired as well as the fired rounds go past them,” Sgt. Washington Moscoso said in the release. A vehicle later stopped near the same entrance shortly after 4:30 a.m., Moscoso said. “For a second time, shots were fired at the Air Force security personnel, however, with the additional security personnel present, multiple Air Force personnel returned fire toward the suspect vehicle,” Moscoso said.

Ukraine could trigger ‘another Chernobyl’ – ex-U.S. Army officer to RT | 18 Aug 2024 | Ukraine’s armed forces could cause a nuclear disaster that would affect most of Europe if they strike the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, former U.S. Army officer Stanislav Krapivnik has warned. In an interview with RT on Saturday, Krapivnik discussed the difference between a dirty bomb and a nuclear bomb, explaining that while a dirty bomb does not have the critical mass or enriched material, it could cause large scale contamination if it hits nuclear waste. If the coolant system in an active plant is targeted, it would cause a “nuclear meltdown” which could lead to an incident similar to Fukushima or Chernobyl, he added. Such an event would impact most of Europe, especially at this time of the year “when the wind blows northwest.” Krapivnik predicted that “if there is enough evidence” of the threat, it would “force a very large reaction” from the Russian government, as a meltdown at the Kursk plant would make the region uninhabitable.

Trump shooter’s body is ‘gone’ as congressman uncovers ‘disturbing fact’ about FBI investigation –The congressman’s report comes amid grave concerns over how the shooting was allowed to unfold | 16 Aug 2024 | The body of Trump shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks has “gone,” a congressman revealed in a report last night accusing the FBI of a “scorched earth” investigation. Rep. Clay Higgins, a Louisiana Republican who was appointed to Congress’s bipartisan task force reviewing the assassination attempt, tried to view Crooks’s body on August 5 as part of his own personal inspection. The former police captain said his request to view the body “caused quite a stir and revealed a disturbing fact,” It was at this point that he learned that the FBI had “released the body for cremation 10 days” after the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. Higgins says “nobody knew” that the body had been returned to the family, including the county coroner and local enforcement. He writes that the coroner still had “legal authority over the body” when the FBI made this decision and accuses the agency of “obstruction.”

After declaring an emergency, Trump Force Two returned to Milwaukee,” said spokeswoman Taylor Van Kirk. Photojournalist Asher Heimermann, who witnessed the landing, said the Milwaukee County Fire Department was on the scene and inspected the plane before it took off again for its intended destination. Scanner traffic revealed 43 people were on board.

UK’s Covid-19 jab victims not ‘disabled enough’ – Telegraph | 18 Aug 2024 | Almost 14,000 people in Britain have applied for payments from the government for disabilities they claim were caused by Covid-19 vaccines, The Telegraph has reported. Only 175 people, or less than 2% of those seeking compensation, have so far received a one-off amount of 120,000 pounds (155,300), the paper said in an article on Saturday… The outlet noted that the UK government continued to recommend the AstraZeneca vaccine, despite its use being halted in Germany, Italy, France, and other European countries by March 2021, amid reports of a growing number of blood clotting cases. Thousands of people have been refused payment due to the government’s medical assessors arguing that there is no concrete proof that their health problems are a result of the vaccines, the report read. Hundreds of others were turned down due to being “not disabled enough,” it added. Under the rules of the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS), an applicant has to be at least 60% disabled to qualify.

That number excludes 2 million gotaways, those who illegally entered and evaded capture, bringing the total number to more than 12.5 million.

This week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents confirmed that 38-year-old Gianfranco Torres-Navarro has been arrested in the sanctuary state of New York near Endicott, New York. Torres-Navarro is the leader of Peru’s brutally violent “Los Killers de Ventanilla y Callao” gang and is wanted in his home country for 23 murders.

Kamala Harris’s ‘Soviet-style’ grocery price plan has ‘no upside’ and will likely spark worst shortages since 1970s – economists | 16 Aug 2024 | There’s “no upside” to Kamala Harris’s “Soviet-style” plan to federally set grocery prices, which she is due to unveil Friday afternoon at a rally in North Carolina — and it would likely lead to the worst supply shortages since the 1970s, economists told The Post. The Harris campaign announced Friday that the Democratic presidential nominee would push for “the first-ever federal ban on price gouging on food and groceries” if she is elected in November. She would also deputize the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general to launch investigations into any companies that flout the centrally planned pricing diktats. The policy proposals are not only “extraordinarily vague” and addressing an “economic non-problem” but also appear to be “straight out of a five-year plan” of a Chairman Mao or Joseph Stalin-like figure, economists told The Post.

Kamala Harris tries to distance herself from Biden in yet another policy flip-flop: ‘Everything about her campaign is fake’ | 14 Aug 2024 | Kamala Harris is furiously trying to “distance” herself from Joe Biden’s record — while also disavowing the far-left policies she heartily embraced just a few years ago. The result is a campaign run entirely on style over substance since Harris took the Democratic mantle from Biden last month. And Democratic campaign operatives warn that she risks voters catching on — and realizing she’s selling only cynical political opportunism. “It’s a marketing strategy that is TV-esque,” one senior Democratic aide said. “With such a short timeline now, policy matters less than personality.”

Every car a police car: Snitch-O-Meter: Ford Motor Co. files patent for in-car device to detect speeding, report drivers to law enforcement | 13 Aug 2024 | Ford Motor Company has developed a new technology that effectively acts as a speeding snitch-o-meter. America’s oldest automobile manufacturer prefers to call their new development the “Systems and Methods for Detecting Speeding Violation” and the company has filed a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to ensure that it’s proprietary to their vehicles. In practice, it would detect speeding cars in proximity to the car in which the device was installed and report them to law enforcement. The technology, which would be built in future vehicles, uses internal sensors to monitor and report speeding infractions by other cars on the road, CBT News reports, adding that “[t]his move is part of Ford’s ongoing innovation in vehicle technology and law enforcement tools.” The system would allow Ford vehicles to photograph speeding cars, chart their GPS location and send it immediately to the nearest police station for perusal and potential arrest.

Outraged San Francisco residents are being kept awake at night by parking lot full of driverless cars that constantly beep at each other | 13 Aug 2024 | Furious San Francisco neighbors say they are losing sleep over a parking lot full of driverless cars that continually honk at each other. California condo residents near 2nd Street and Harrison Street in the South of Market neighborhood have recorded Waymo vehicles honking in a nearby parking lot throughout all hours of the day. The dystopian video shows the cars driving in circles around the lot with their lights on in the middle of the night as they randomly start beeping at each other. Initially neighbors were excited to welcome the robotaxis to the area a few weeks ago — then the sounds started disrupting their sleep.
