Richard Tice, the deputy leader of Reform UK, said he had been told by an industry expert that the airport changed its back-up systems from a diesel generator to an environmentally friendly biomass version. He said the biomass generator appeared to have failed because it was designed only to work alongside the National Grid, and not independently if the Grid was shut off… The accusations came as it emerged counter-terrorism police were leading the investigation into the fire. The Telegraph understands specialist detectives are on site at the North Hyde electrical substation after a blast there shortly before midnight.

Kiev blew up metering station for EU-bound gas – Russia | 21 March 2025 | Ukrainian forces retreating from Russia’s Kursk Region have destroyed the Sudzha gas metering station, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has reported. The incident took place early on Friday, roughly 20 minutes after midnight, the ministry said in a statement. The facility had been previously used to deliver fuel to consumers in European nations. Ukrainian forces seized the site in early August during their incursion into Kursk Region and used it as a secure logistics base, the ministry explained. The station, located close to the border, was deliberately blown up as part of the Ukrainian retreat, the military added.

Two dead in Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian border region – governor | 21 March 2025 | Two people have been killed in a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on the Russian Belgorod border region, its governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on Telegram on Friday. Kiev’s forces have attacked about a dozen of settlements in the region, according to the governor’s data. One such attack killed a civilian and severely injured another one in a small village located around 18 kilometers away from Russia’s border with Ukraine, Gladkov said. Two other attacks on other settlements also left one civilian injured each, he added. The Kremlin reported that Putin supported Trump’s proposal for Russia and Ukraine to mutually halt strikes on energy infrastructure for 30 days. He has instructed the military to implement this directive. “The Russian President also responded constructively to Donald Trump’s idea of ​​implementing a previously-discussed initiative concerning the safety of navigation in the Black Sea,” the statement said, adding that the leaders agreed to begin negotiations on the matter.

Israel resumes airstrikes in Gaza | 18 March 2025 | Israel has resumed airstrikes in Gaza following the collapse of talks with Hamas over the release of the remaining hostages and the implementation of the ceasefire. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection are released,” it said.

The site, called “Dogequest,” reportedly reveals the names, addresses and phone numbers of Tesla owners throughout the U.S. using an interactive map — and uses an image of a Molotov cocktail as a cursor. The site’s operators, who also posted the exact locations of Tesla dealerships, said that they will remove identifying information about Tesla drivers only if they provide proof that they sold their electric vehicles, according to 404 Media.

New outbreak of deadly bird flu strain confirmed for first time in 8 years | 20 March 2025 | new bird flu outbreak has been confirmed as the virus continues to spread across the U.S. The deadly H7N9 strain was detected on a poultry farm in Noxubee, Mississippi, last week, for the first time since 2017. The infection of 47,654 commercial broiler-breeder chickens was confirmed on March 13 by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). Samples of the flock were tested at the Mississippi Veterinary Research & Diagnostic Laboratory and came back positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza, the State of Mississippi Board of Animal Health announced in a press release on March 12.

Lutnick says Trump has agreed to eliminate income taxes for Americans making less than $150K | 21 March 2025 | Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Friday said that he has received confirmation from the president that the U.S. will eliminate income taxes on households making less than 150K a year, if he successfully balances the budget. President Donald Trump previously teased eliminating the federal income tax in January, claiming that if his plans with tariffs work out then he would eliminate the federal tax. Lutnick told the All In podcast that he was recently in the car with the president when the idea was floated again… The secretary highlighted how the United States did not have a federal income tax until 1913 and had used tariffs instead.

The move, effective April 24, cuts short a two-year “parole” granted to the migrants under former President [sic] Joe Biden that allowed them to enter the country by air if they had U.S. sponsors. But Trump said: “These were bad people…” Asked about using the controversial law outside of wartime, Trump added: “This is a time of war because Biden allowed millions of people — many of them criminals, many of them at the highest level. They emptied jails out — other nations. It’s an invasion and these are criminals.”

Judge who ordered illegal Venezuelan gang members returned to U.S. faces calls for impeachment | 17 March 2025 | After Obama-appointed Judge James Boasberg issued an order Saturday halting President Donald Trump’s rapid deportation of Venezuelan gang members [terrorists], Texas GOP Rep. Brandon Gill swiftly announced plans to file articles of impeachment in an effort to remove him. Gill made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday, noting he would be filing the motion this week. Republicans have been piling on Boasberg after he issued a 14-day restraining order halting the Trump administration from deporting violent Venezuelan gang members who entered the U.S. illegally, via powers laid out in the centuries-old Alien Enemies Act. “Another day, another judge unilaterally deciding policy for the whole country. This time to benefit foreign gang members,” Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, posted on X.
