Truckers refusing to drive to NYC after government infringements on Trump’s business matters | 18 Feb 2024 | Trump-supporting truckers will refuse to drive to New York City after the former president was slapped with a 355 million fine in his “fraud” case last week. A conservative social media influencer and trucker who goes by Chicago Ray posted a video clip in which he claims that some of his colleagues are going to stop making deliveries to New York City to protest the ruling, issued in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday. “I’ve been on the radio talking to drivers for about the past hour and I’ve talked to about ten drivers…and they’re going to start refusing loads to New York City starting on Monday,” Ray said in the video from inside his truck. He said he’s already spoken to some drivers that work with him who told their boss they won’t go to The Big Apple.

Key Donbass city of Avdeevka captured by Russians – Moscow | 17 Feb 2024 | Russian forces have “completely captured” the city of Avdeevka, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday. Some 1,500 Ukrainian troops were killed as they retreated, leaving their weapons and equipment behind, the ministry said. The seizure moves the front line further away from the city of Donetsk, thereby shielding its civilian population from bombardment by Ukrainian forces. Situated around 20km away, Avdeevka had been fortified and used as a staging ground for such attacks since 2014. “Under the continuous fire of Russian troops, only individual scattered formations of Ukrainian militants” managed to escape the city, the ministry said, stating that Kiev had lost 1,500 men in the 24 hours before the city was liberated.

House Intel Chairman announces ‘serious national security threat,’ sources say it is related to Russia | 14 Feb 2024 | House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner has made information concerning a “serious national security threat” available to all members of Congress to review, the committee said on Wednesday. While Turner and the White House remained vague on what the threat entailed, two sources and a U.S. official tell CNN the threat is related to Russia. Multiple sources familiar with the intelligence characterized it as “very sensitive.” One of the sources who has seen the intelligence confirmed that “it is, in fact, a highly concerning and destabilizing” Russian capability “that we were recently made aware of.” But House Speaker Mike Johnson later sought to soothe concerns about the unspecified threat, saying there is “no cause for alarm.”

Biden appears to confuse NATO with Ukraine in calling for Congress members to pass funding bill | 17 Feb 2024 | Joe Biden on Saturday appeared to mix up NATO with Ukraine when calling on House members to come back to Washington, D.C., to vote on a bill that would fund Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. “The idea that we’re going to walk away from Ukraine, the idea that we’re going to begin to let NATO split is totally against the interests of the United States of America…” Biden told reports in Delaware Saturday. “So it’s about time we make sure Congress come home and pass the legislation funding NATO.” The Senate this week passed the bipartisan bill that would give 95.3 million in funding to the three allies for defense purposes, but the House of Representatives is on a two-week break and House Speaker Mike Johnson has said the House won’t “rush” to pass it.

Speaker Mike Johnson says he will NOT put $95B Ukraine and Israel aid bill on the floor while Democrats vow to use ‘all options’ to try and force a vote on the massive package | 13 Feb 2024 | Speaker Mike Johnson said he will not be putting the Senate’s national security aid bill on the House floor, hours after the Senate spent all night pushing the bill through its chamber. “I certainly don’t [plan on it],” he told reporters Tuesday. “Right now, we’re dealing with the appropriations process, we have immediate deadlines upon us and that’s where the attention is in the House in this moment.” The [utterly insane] 95 billion aid package included funding for Ukraine, Israel, Gaza and Taiwan. The immigration provisions were stripped out entirely after conservatives insisted they did not go far enough to secure the southern border

Ukraine aid bill is a Trump impeachment ‘time bomb’ – U.S. senator | 13 Feb 2024 | Republican Senator JD Vance has argued that a new bill proposing additional military aid for Kiev could spell another impeachment case against Donald Trump should he win reelection in November, calling the measure a “time bomb.” In a memo circulated on Monday, Vance noted that the latest Ukraine package calls for funding which would expire “nearly a year into the possible second term of President Trump,” suggesting that Democrats could ultimately impeach him if he chose not to renew the aid. “If President Trump were to withdraw from or pause financial support for the war in Ukraine in order to bring the conflict to a peaceful conclusion…it would amount to the same fake violation of budget law from the first impeachment,” Vance wrote, adding that “Partisan Democrats would seize on the opportunity to impeach him once again.”

According to the latest figures from Gaza’s health ministry, 28,473 people have been killed and 68,146 more wounded in Israeli airstrikes and the ground offensive against the Palestinian enclave. The IDF has been attacking Gaza since the Palestinian armed group Hamas launched its October 7 strike on Israel, in which around 1,200 people lost their lives and some 240 were taken hostage.

Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio noted Special Counsel John Durham alleged in Friday’s legal filing that Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign paid an Internet company to “infiltrate” servers at Trump Tower and the White House to try to tie Donald Trump to Russia. “Yep, there was spying going on, and it was worse than we thought because they were spying on the sitting president of the United States,” Jordan told Fox & Friends. “And it goes right to the Clinton campaign…The only thing we didn’t understand was it was worse than we thought.”

Judge Juan Manuel Merchan said that jury selection in the estimated six-week-long fudging business records case – the first of Trump’s four criminal cases to head to trial – will begin smack in the middle of Republican primary season. Merchan issued his ruling despite protests from Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanche — who claimed going to trial in March would be a “great injustice” — and from the former president himself, who complained in the courthouse’s hallway that the case was “election interference.” “Enjoy it. It’s a sad day. It’s a sad day for New York,” Trump said.

Fulton County policy suggests both DA Willis, Wade were required to disclose relationship | 16 Feb 2024 | A Fulton County policy regarding the disclosure of a romantic relationship with an employee may have applied to both District Attorney Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade, yet they testified that they did not inform any county employees of their relationship, according to lawyers observing the case. Willis last year indicted Trump and 18 co-defendants over his efforts to challenge the 2020 election results in Georgia. She had hired Wade as a special prosecutor to pursue the case. Co-defendant Mike Roman’s attorney, Ashleigh Merchant, first raised allegations in January regarding Willis and Wade, claiming the pair “engaged in an improper, clandestine personal relationship” and Wade had profited from the case.
