The Burlington Police have gotten national recognition for their work to get drug dealers and violent criminals off the streets. Highlights include dangerous undercover work to catch drug traffickers and getting those involved in shootings off the streets.

“This morning I had the pleasure of attending the US Attorney’s 2024 Law Enforcement Awards Ceremony and watching as members of the Burlington Police Department—Detective Sergeant Philip Tremblay, Sergeant Chase Vivori, and Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force Officer Durwin Ellerman—were honored for their outstanding casework and collaboration with our terrific federal partners,” BPD Chief Jon Murad said in a press release.

  1. Wow, it sounds like the Burlington Police Department is doing a great job for the city
and it’s citizens , but Burlington’s city council wants to form a ” Committee ” to over see what they are doing, because this gaggle of fools that de-funded the BPD and reduced it’s headcount, and they don’t have a clue about any form of policing all they want is to shoestring the police department that they despise !!

    Burlington Police Department, thanks………………

  2. Why do we have so many dangerous criminals??? Inquiring minds want to know.

    • Because the cops may be arresting them, but our *liberal* judges and *justice system* are letting them back on the streets as fast as they’re being brought in.

How many stories have I read, including here on VDC, where they caught this guy who “had 64 prior arrests” or “had 159 *interactions with police* going back to 1998”? Where now he “killed 2 people in a drug deal gone bad”, so this time “We’ll put him away for a long time”?

What I’d like to know is, how many of these arrests BPD is making are of multiple repeat offenders who should have been locked up a long, long time ago.

BPD cops do a great job given how much their ranks have been decimated. But when you call because you want to file a police report about your kid’s new bike being stolen, you’re told “The earliest we can get someone out is in about 7 hours. They’re ALL tied up with a shooting downtown”.

I don’t know, maybe we ought to be hiring MORE cops. Wouldn’t the long-term savings for society far outweigh the salaries and benefits costs? I say it would.

When are we going to come to the collective realization that the kids have had their playtime, but it’s time for the adults to take over again.

  3. Thank goodness for their “federal partners”. The BPD are winning an award from the US Attorney’s office for hauling in the bad ones…and the Chittenden County State’s Attorney, Sarah George is getting an award from the Soros Family for letting them loose.

  4. “The Burlington Police have gotten national recognition for their work to get drug dealers and violent criminals off the streets.” – What streets? Was Burlington Police working in some other neighborhood somewhere or something?

“dangerous undercover work to catch drug traffickers” – So they finally brought in the CIA? Or are we talking about doctors that give 5 year olds meth because they don’t find the school curriculum exhilarating enough? I guess now that all the drugs are gone we don’t need to build a safe injection site, and all the dopers have left. Amazing, I can come visit Burlington again!

“getting those involved in shootings off the streets” – For how many minutes? How many exactly?

  5. Well deserved recognition of our loyal and hard working Burlington police force. But where is the recognition by Mayor Stanek and the City Council? When crime hits their doorsteps, they might experience an epiphany about their stupid and dangerous decisions to defund these heroes. Your reckless apathy, ignorance, and disgraceful rhetoric shames every one of you…the black hats you wear are symbolic of the lawlessness you create…thank God for the white hats of the law enforcement servants Jon Murad heads…Save Burlington, Save Vermont, Save America…Vote Republican. Or continue to suffer the consequences.

    • The Mayor and City Council are so arrogant they would never acknowledge their police departments hard work or the mistakes they made during their move to defund the police. Our legislators also own the damage that has been done due to their no cash bail laws and other ill-begotten legislation. Keep voting them in and things will continue to get worse.

  6. With city council members like carter nueberry ( or whatever his name is) Burlington will continue to decline. Nobody I know goes to Burlington anymore for anything.
