Colchester Police are investigating a shooting in old Fort Ethan Allen that left a man in critical condition early Saturday.

Colchester Police officers responded to a report of gunshots behind 363 Ethan Allen Avenue about 1:20 a.m., Detective Cpl. Michael West said.

Officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds laying on the ground outside of the building and immediately began providing medical care, police said.

St. Michael’s College Rescue treated the man before they rushed him to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment of his various wounds.

Police have names of possible suspects and are looking for an orange-colored car with Vermont plates, possibly a Ford Flex, that fled the scene.

Essex and Williston Police also responded and assisted at the scene.

West said this is believed to have been an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call Colchester Police at (802) 264-5555.

  1. “West said this is believed to have been an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.”
I’m thinking that this a drug turf/debt shooting, and so if the police want to classify this as isolated incident, sure fine, but me personally: I don’t think we should think of a drug turf/debt as isolated incident, but rather an increasingly progressive cancer on our society. Just my opinion, take it or leave it.
