Suspect Jordan Lawyer in Enosburgh domestic homicide

by Mike Donoghue, Vermont News First

ENOSBURGH — Law enforcement authorities arrested a Franklin County man that is believed to have killed his father and critically injured his mother this morning, Vermont News First has learned.

Jordan Lawyer, 29, of Enosburgh has been identified by authorities as the prime suspect in the domestic case. No charges have been filed yet.

Franklin County State’s Attorney Bram Kranichfeld said this morning his office is working closely with investigators. He said once they have more information he will review the case.

Lawyer was apprehended after a car chase that began when the suspect’s vehicle was first spotted on Vermont 105 near the Abbey Restaurant and subsequent there was a subsequent crash shortly before 11:30 a.m..

State police confirmed the apprehension and said they would issue a news release with details later.

Few details about the domestic dispute are available, but the case is centered at a home on West Enosburgh Road (Vermont 108) near Tyler Branch Road, according to authorities. It happened about 8:45 a.m.

The couple is believed to have been beaten, possibly with a baseball bat, according to two news sources familiar with the case. Initial reports indicated it was a shooting, but that was soon changed to a beating.

The husband was found dead outside the home.

Authorities had requested a helicopter and were looking for a place to land it, apparently to air-lift the victim to the UVM Medical Center.

Lawyer has had at least one previous arrest in an aggravated domestic assault with a weapon on a family member in 2022, police said.

The suspect was believed to have fled in a Vermont-registered 2015 Black Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was first spotted on Vermont 108 in Bakersfield about 9:30 a.m. and police combed the area.

Vermont State Police, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Border Patrol and other law enforcement flooded the area looking for the suspect.

The investigation is in its early stages and involves members of VSP’s uniform division, Major Crime Unit, detective bureau, and Crime Scene Search Team.

It is expected to take an extended period of time because state police will need to seek a search warrant to enter the property to collect any evidence that would be need for a trial.

After the crime scene is processed by investigators, the plan is to bring the victim’s body to the office of Vermont’s Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, state police spokesman Adam SIlverman said in an email.

This story continues to be updated as more information becomes available during the day.

  1. You remove God from the equation and all Hell breaks loose. Who would have ever expected this? Oh yeah….the Bible told us so.

The Roman Empire Falls. A second time.

    • Imagine being so cynical you make a fratricide joke about your neighbors only to prove the lady’s point.

You may want to read the book again Chris.
The fratricide began after they left God’s presence.

    • It’s also the third story:

      Creation & the garden
      The Fall in the garden
Cain and Abel outside of the garden

    • Aaron, I don’t begrudge anyone that needs the panacea of religion to soothe their brain, I do draw the line at someone who needs an invisible sky lord to keep them from misbehaving telling me that that’s whats wrong with me.

    • I know – you’re special, Chris. There, there. You tell us so all the time. Your high powered education would prevent you from believing fairy tales or acting in a manner that would lessen your humanity.

Your babies are nothing more than a clump of cells until they are delivered. Scraping those cells and experimenting on them is liberating and he king valid, yea! And your old and suffering should have government fund their killing, cos ya know, there is nothing left for them and we may as well make some money off them while we can.

Your massive brain will slow climate change and when it does we will all live in the ecstacy of our sexual choices – which, along with our skin color – are what define us.

If only we would follow your example, eh! We could live off a government subsidized job, wait for student loan forgiveness and believe everything our political betters tell us. Because they’re not fairy tales, they’re science ™!

Oh yeah, and please get yourself up to date on your boosters.

    • Funny, that pesky book has the answers for all of life’s issues and challenges, also considered one of the founding books for Western Civilization, a great work of literature by itself and one of the 100 great books.

Yet those who read it are ignorant. Ok. Got it.

And please enlighten us to whom would be a better person to follow than Jesus Christ, along with an explanation.

Slavery would still be popular if it weren’t for Christianity. Gee what letter was given the whole significance of a book in the New Testament that covered this?

It’s a wonderful reading experience, had this young man been indwelled with the Holy Spirit, things would have been much better for everyone involved, most definitely himself.

    • I admit, I get a chuckle from agnostics, atheiests, or what-nots when they mock believers in Christ and God. They always say worshipping “a man in the clouds” or an “invisible sky lord.” How do they mock Luciferians or Satanists? Those who believe in a “fallen angle” man with horns, a pitchfork, and has magical, mystical powers as well? I thought invisible sky lords were the Star Wars federation characters. It does go to show the power of God – the mere mention of Him, His son, or his Word sends some humans into a complete tizzy – they can’t help themselves – it’s rather intriguing – the level of fear of something that doesn’t exist – so they claim.

    • Chris, you fundamentally misunderstand the Bible. It’s not religion to pacify the brain, it’s knowledge of God’s intent to restore one’s soul. Though there is intellectual and emotional benefit from knowing God the transaction is eternal not temporal. Not only is one offered and receives the gift of a restored life gone wrong and promise of eternity but the REAL gift is getting to know God in this life. He’s way more awesome, way cooler than you could ever imagine – that’s the secret. You don’t get to find that out until you submit to His design, which begins with repentance.

It’s funny you imply there is something wrong with you. That’s the starting point. There is something wrong with all of us, not just the murderer in this article. There is something wrong with you, more than what can be gleaned from your “begrudging” comments. If you say there isn’t anything wrong with you, you’re perfect, there isn’t a person alive who will believe you. Why is that? Answering that question is likely more fruitful than lobbing salvos in the VDC comment section.

If you accept there is something wrong with you, deeply in fact, you may want to consider why with the few years you have left. You don’t’ have time to evolve out of it.

    • No problem VtRocks, I try to live Christ’s word, unlike some people here. All I did was point out the hypocrisy. Aaron, you are cool with me anytime, because you’re not judgmental. (other than the trans stuff) You did miss my point. I have a problem with people like Kathleen and the peanut gallery thinking that they are morally superior to atheists (what happened to pride) and its really, really hard not to laugh at everyone here’s worship of false prophets. I was going to make a joke to you about reading the bible and this was the headline in the Times today,

“Oklahoma Schools Need 55,000 Bibles. Trump-Endorsed Book Fits the Bill.”
      https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/04/us/oklahoma-schools-trump-bible.html

How can I believe in something that clearly has so many false prophets speaking for him?

    • The confusion rests within saying those being “morally superior” is a personal perception – as well as a cloaked belittling. There are boasters, hypocrites, and blasphemers just the same – mixing religious dogma with the teachings of Christ is confusing, by design – we are to love thy neighbor and pray for our enemy – yet many grapple and struggle with that endlessly because of being “in the world” and “in the flesh.” The most simple principle to follow is if you don’t like something – don’t you do it too. On the flip side, when faced with evil and the works of demons, (ear tickling to deceive, steal, and destroy) the remnant has a moral and ethical duty to call out the demon (intrusive, possessive spirits) and send it packing back to the abyss from which it came. Today’s world is so infested with the works of evil – many can’t fathom they are falling away due to their deeds against their brothers/sisters and their acceptance of things that are clearly unacceptable – due to the harm it manifests.

The good news is every day your feet hit the floor, another opportunity to change and do better than the day before.

As far as the Bible is concerned – most should know it’s been re-written and edited several times over and by whom. The fact is the older the text, the more accurate it will be to the original teachings – look to the editions prior to KJV and the differences are clear. Also, there are other chapters/texts that remain hidden – by design. If we only knew the details of the missing texts…we likely would be more suited and equipped to prosper rather than continually flounder. All will be revealed, nonetheless, the universe doesn’t play around and allow imbalance to remain unchecked.

Pride – one of the seven deadly sins. Pride comes before the fall. You see the alphabet soup group utilize the action by name – so be it – fallen away. Proverbs 16:18-19 “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud”

    • You’re just never going to figure out that reply button no matter how many people tell you, are you?

  2. Must be a large degree of frustration or doping in Vermont easily triggered.

VDC Comment posted by SOUTHERN TOM, not BURLINGTON TOM

  3. Obviously, this guy wasn’t listening to anyone’s laws, sky or not.
But a “good” lawyer can fix anything.

    • Sorry Mr. Day but I have to suggest an alternative to “zoo” – this violence in Vermont is exponentially worse than a “zoo” – frankly, the caged animals in a zoo get along and behave much better than the mayhem we see in Burlington and other areas of Vermont on a, regrettably, regular basis. I’d suggest categorizing Vermont as an area of “high risk for safety” would be more appropriate. Just another day in Vermont where there’s a high risk to you and your family’s safety sounds more truthful.

  4. He is just another moralless soul, how bad of a life did Jordan Lawyer have, he was probably still living at home, with no job or only came home to hit his parents up for money………………….just saying !!

  5. Lawrence, thank you for your comment about the zoo and you are correct. Now who is going to provide all of this public safety????? The animals in the zoo do not have a chose on how they live. The people in Vermont do have a chose and they should take steps to protect themselves.

  6. Chris: Since leftists on VDC are the ONLY ones who experience the mystifying disappearing “reply” icon……..NO.

And just for the record, it is young Chris who mocks posters’ religions on here all the time, and most mysteriously appears to mock their intellect, despite the fact that their debating skills and general acumen are extremely impressive.

Chris remains no exception to: What one reaps he sows.

Or to: What goes around, comes around.

Or to: If you can’t take it, DON’T dish it out.

    • Chris appears to be mystified as to what goes on over here criticizing people’s comments. It must be empty over there where Chris hangs out. Imagine wasting your time ridiculing other people’s religion to make yourself feel good.

  7. To all the people responding to the comments of Chris as it is not worth your time responding to him and people like him.

    • There is truth in what you say, however, Ben Shapiro did make a good comment with his love of debate, it’s really not for the one you are arguing with, but for the audience, there is oft, little hope to change the opinion with whom one is arguing.

This also goes to the basic understanding of why God hates pride. Pride, in simple term is I’m right and you’re wrong. Part of the submission is admitting, hey I don’t know everything, and in God’s wisdom, I cannot fathom or hope to understand, but he works all things for the good of his people.

For me personally, a lay leader at a church that is going to be 4 years since our building burnt, leading services in a very drafty tent, now comfortable, but together in a very small construction trailer, hearing these testimonies and understandings of the teachings of Jesus Christ is so wonderful, sometimes you think you are all alone in this state, we as Christians need to support each other and not be afraid, fear not, fear not. If in my life I’ve done anything of worth it would have been reading the Life Application Study Bible and Lord, willing have this church rebuilt with a day care facility withe 10 Commandments and the prayer that Jesus taught us.

Knowing full well, if there was a choice in our state for having a strong republican party for example or a healthy Christian community, there is no question that as a leader the Christian community, followers of Christ would be more beneficial to each individual, each town, our entire state than anything else we could possibly do.

So it is with great admiration, appreciation and love when I hear others, kindly, gently, prodding readers to Christ, the fruit of the Holy Spirit is evident in their delivery, kindness, gentleness, patience. We can do no more than point, the Holy Spirit takes it from there, I pray he’s busy and kind to his people in this state.

    • I don’t argue with idiots ever, I just point out to other people who the idiot is!

  8. Make all the claims you like about violence in the Bible, but it is the left’s agenda all over the planet, the USA and especially in Vermont that has laid the groundwork for this kind of behavior. Killing and/or maiming your own parent’s, with a similar prior offense by a long-haired, hoodie-wearing punk has all the hallmarks of the leftist-promoted breakdown of the nuclear family, the fundamental unit of our society. Would be interesting to see this maggot’s employment history at age 29. Idle hands are the devils tools.
