Progressive Party Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak, who was nowhere to be found yesterday afternoon when media members tried to reach out to ask her about the ill-advised Gag Order she imposed on Burlington Police, apparently will grant some media members interviews this afternoon.

Vermont News First has learned Mulvaney-Stanak’s office sent out a notice to some media members this morning that she will be having a press availability this afternoon at City Hall.

Vermont News First was among those left off the invitation list.

UPDATE: Seven Days said after this post was made that it also was left off the invite list.

The Mayor appears still upset with Vermont News First for breaking the story that Mulvaney-Stanak began milking MealTrain.com last summer to get free donated dinners from taxpayers for her, her wife and their children after she got elected Mayor.

The Mayor had claimed at the time her family, which has about a $250,000 combined annual income, was working hard and needed the free meals.

She doesn’t answer her cellphone and actually has asked VNF to stop calling.

Mulvaney-Stanak’s office said yesterday she was too busy to discuss City Hall business, including the Gag Order with the local news media. She believed she had to go to Gov. Phil Scott’s Inauguration speech in Montpelier.

However, the Mayor also was able to find time later yesterday afternoon to issue a news release with her reactions to what Republican Gov. Scott had said. Surprise — she was not happy.

Mulvaney-Stanak couldn’t say anything about the out-of-control crime rate in Burlington that is fueled by drug addicts, homeless and people with mental health issues.

Sounds like Mulvaney-Stanak is taking a page out of the playbook of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who also proved to be MIA when her home fires — literally — were burning.

Bass was halfway around the world in Africa this week while multiple dangerous wind-driven fires were consuming her city. More than 1,000 homes have been destroyed. As she arrived home, Bass was speechless when confronted by the media about being MIA and for cutting the fire department budget by more than $17.5 million.

  1. This is just a ” CYA ” gathering by the DEI Mayor, yes she stepped into it again, ineptness abounds, she only listens to her leftist supporters, what a pathetic display of leadership !!

    • mulvaney-hyphen is asserting control over the desired narrative. Chief Murad is resigning for a reason, whether he stated it publicly or not. His comments- stated after his announcement of resignation- about a particular troublesome individual are easily applicable to dozens of others that are on the same criminal and judicial path. Those comments were about burlington’s progressive infestation and politics as much as the individual with 1850 “encounters”. mulvaney-hyphen now must circle the progressive wagons to maintain her power position and defend the narrative.
Since 2020’s “summer of love” progressives and socialist democrats have demanded exactly what they are receiving- more crime, more homeless, business and visitors going elsewhere and the slide of a once nice town into dystopian and now totalitarian anarchy.

  2. DEI, CRT, BLM, defund-the-police, etc., were never designed to reveal truth. Rather, they were designed to achieve power.

Now that “they” (the progressives/democrats/socialists/communists) have it… their power is revealing them.

And the gullible and naïve democrats and progressives who voted for “these” people, will do so again. A kind of Stockholm Syndrome achieved through Mass Formation via a corrupted Vermont media.

  3. They need to continue to investigate her and everyone connected to her office. Lawfare is the new political tool. We need to identify anything and everything she does wrong and point it out.

  4. Does she have to get her speech approved by George sorts before she makes it, would be a good question to ask, for a friend of course.

  5. She is digging herself a hole. And like most Leftists, when that fact is pointed out, they usually dig faster, rather than admit error.

In her defense, avoiding the press and accountability is hard work, so the free meals are a necessity.

  6. “Mulvaney-Stanak’s office said yesterday she was too busy to discuss City Hall business.” Ummm…isn’t it the Mayor’s job and sworn duty to discuss City Hall business? What pray tell would she be too busy doing to be derelict of duty? Meal planning? Updating Community Activism training handbook directives from her Master? Watching the View? Emergency meeting with Mommy and fellow comrads? Go woke, go broke Burlington. Your city is burning from the inside out. Preaching inclusivity, while blatantly excluding and ignoring any media that doesn’t carry forward the narrative, the script, the agenda.

    • She’s brushing up on her book rules for radicals…who will she publicly attack and threaten to fire, she working out a plan, probably has to coordinate with friendly propagandists, she won’t be calling guy page, that is for sure.

Who she calls for the press will tell you who is in the bag for her. A statesman would call them all.

    • She possesses no such authority. VDC is part of a FREE Press. They must SIT and STAY. Trump is on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. BLACKMAIL, BRIBERY, EMBEZZLEMENT, EXTORTION, AND RACKETEERING ARE A DIRTY BUSINESS. Some trap the mayor has set for herself. Yes and the free meals for herself just like your state representatives and senators. Never fear by 2030 agenda they all will loose weight by riding their bikes to work.

  8. They’re all copies of identical mp3 files on looped playback. You ain’t gonna get answers from any of them.

  9. Burlington’s own Karen Bass. Most of her exercise comes from running from responsibility. If I was a Burlington voter who voted for this pathetically incompetent moonbat, I’d be feeling very embarrassed.

  10. “Democracy” and/or the FREE Press within a FREE Republic of, by, & for the people does NOT work that way.

Go in, sit, and STAY. Let her ATTEMPT to evict you.

  11. Burlington what have you done to yourselves? Are you being represented or ruled?

  12. Self-absorbed Stanek and her wooden puppets would do well to heed the words of John Adams regarding the true PURPOSE OF GOVERNMENT:

“Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it.” – John Adams
