VSP: Loose cattle dispute escalates to assault with impact weapon in Coventry

COVENTRY –– A 57-year-old Coventry resident faces aggravated assault charges after allegedly attacking another man during a dispute over loose cattle, according to Vermont State Police.

Jeffrey Boren was arrested on May 14, following an incident on Airport Road in Coventry.

Troopers responded to reports of a physical altercation in progress at approximately 7:48 p.m.

Investigation revealed Boren allegedly caused bodily injury to Kyle Brown, 27, also of Coventry, while armed with an impact weapon.

Boren was transported to the Derby barracks for processing and later released with conditions.

He is scheduled to appear in Orleans Superior Court today to answer to the charge of aggravated assault.


Man arrested in Norwich University sexual assault case

MONTPELIER — A 20-year-old New Hampshire man was arrested following an investigation into a sexual assault that allegedly occurred at Norwich University last year.

Joseph Hebert of Conway, New Hampshire, was arraigned Thursday in Washington County Superior Court’s criminal division where he was held without bail.

The investigation began on March 11 when the Montpelier Police Department received a request for assistance from the Northfield Police Department regarding an alleged sexual assault that reportedly took place on the Norwich University campus in September 2024.

Montpelier police conducted the investigation, which led to Hebert’s arrest.

A bail review hearing is scheduled for May 20 at 10 a.m.


Lyndonville man arrested on felony, misdemeanor warrants

LYNDONVILLE — A 30-year-old Lyndon resident was arrested Wednesday on two outstanding warrants, according to the Lyndonville Police Department.

Justin Benton was taken into custody without incident at 5:43 p.m. May 14 in front of a residence on Center Street.

Police said Benton was wanted on a felony warrant for grand larceny and a misdemeanor warrant for DUI (drugs).

Benton was lodged at Northeast Regional Correctional Facility in lieu of $550 cash or surety.


Police seek help in finding missing Enosburg woman

Missing: Erin McGee

ENOSBURG — Vermont State Police are searching for a missing 44-year-old woman who was last seen leaving a residence on Nichols Road in Enosburg on May 13.

Erin McGee was reported missing by a family member at 11:53 a.m. on May 15, according to police.

McGee is believed to be driving a 2014 black Chevrolet Silverado.

She is described as approximately 5’3″ tall, weighing about 100 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Police said it is unknown what clothing McGee was wearing when she left the residence around 12:30 p.m. on May 13.

Anyone with information regarding McGee’s whereabouts is asked to contact the St. Albans Barracks at 802-524-5993.


Woman arrested after domestic assault in Reading

READING — The Vermont State Police arrested a 23-year-old Reading woman Thursday after responding to a domestic disturbance on Hurricane Hill.

Troopers from the Westminster Barracks received a report of the disturbance at 11:55 a.m. May 15.

Investigation revealed that Alyse Cerone caused bodily injury to a household member, according to police.

Cerone was transported to the Westminster Barracks for processing.

She was cited to appear before the Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division, on May 16 at 12:30 p.m. to answer to a charge of domestic assault.

The name of the victim was not released, as Vermont State Police does not disclose the identities of victims of domestic violence.

      Tools typically used to gain and maintain control.
