Blotter: Assault/ Harassment of dispatchers

Assault in Burlington

On July 24, at approximately 11:01 AM, Burlington police officers were dispatched to a report of an assault that had occurred on North Avenue.

It was determined Robert Warner, Jr., 37, of Burlington, assaulted an individual by delivering multiple blows to their head. The victim was evaluated by the Burlington Fire Department and transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center. Officers located and arrested Warner for aggravated assault.


Middlebury man cited for harassing dispatchers

Cormick M. Cantwell, 41, of Middlebury, Vermont, has been cited for disturbing the peace by use of a telephone. Vermont State Police, with assistance from the Middlebury Police Department, issued the citation on July 23.

Cantwell is accused of harassing state and local police dispatchers, making a total of 334 calls from May 13, 2024, through July 23, 2024. He is scheduled to appear in Addison County Superior Court Criminal Division on Monday, July 29, at 12:30 PM to respond to the charges.


Chittenden Regional inmate charged with bringing in, possessing cocaine

Chad CeJai Dillon, 38, of Essex, Vermont, faces charges for transporting regulated drugs into a detention center and possession of cocaine. The incident occurred on April 23 at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.

During Dillon’s processing and booking, contraband was confiscated and later tested positive for cocaine at the Vermont Forensic Laboratory. Dillon received a citation on July 17, 2024, and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, August 22 at 8:30 AM.


Arrest made in Enosburg armed robberies

The Vermont State Police have arrested Anthony Ryan, 33, of Richard, in connection with two armed robberies at the Jolley convenience store on Main Street in Enosburg. The incidents occurred on May 6 and May 26.

In the most recent robbery, which took place around 12:15 AM on May 26, a male suspect entered the store with his shirt pulled up over his face, claimed he had a weapon, and demanded money. The suspect fled on foot with cash from one of the registers. He was described as approximately 5’10”, wearing a light-colored t-shirt, dark-colored sweatpants, and dark-colored sneakers.

Ryan was apprehended in South Carolina and extradited back to Vermont on a parole violation warrant. He is currently lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility.
