At upcoming meetings in Bennington County and Montpelier, K. Carl Smith will give one black man’s perspective on Critical Race Theory and the new segregation in Vermont schools.

K. Carl Smith

After an introduction by Vermont Liberty founder John Klar, Smith will speak at the East Road Pavilion (this is the upper pavilion) at Willow Park in Bennington at 5 pm on Thursday, August 5 and again at 7 pm, Saturday August 7 at the Dana Thompson Park House in Manchester. Smith also will speak at a 7-9 pm gathering (cash bar) August 6 at Capital Plaza Hotel in Montpelier. Tickets are $25 available from vtliberty.net. At all events, there will be opportunity for questions and answers.

An avid athlete and a former U.S. Army officer, K. Carl successfully completed both the Airborne and Air Assault programs while on active duty, according to his online bio. He is the former District Leader (AL-7) for Americans for Fair Taxation. The son of Colonel (retired) Earnest C. and Bessie Smith, Sr., K. Carl is a native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, was reared in Huntsville, Alabama. He is graduate of Alabama A&M University. K. Carl makes in home in Trussville, Alabama and is the proud father of two children and four grandchildren.

K. Carl is a nationally recognized author, speaker and the creator of the Frederick Douglass Republican Engagement Strategy, a powerful and proven persuasive messaging approach—developed through years of real-world successes.

As an expert on diversity outreach, for more than 12 years Smith has empowered thousands of grassroots conservatives, Republican Party precinct leaders, county and state leaders and candidates, with his game-changing diversity outreach best practice. K. Carl has spoken to more than 300 conservative, Republican and faith-based organizations. He has appeared on several national TV and radio talk shows.

A former U.S. Army officer, K. Carl served as a member of the Trump Presidential Campaign Coalition Advisory Board. He is the author of the bestselling book, “Frederick Douglass Republicans: The Movement to Re-Ignite American’s Passion for Liberty.”

K. Carl’s commitment to the guiding principles of the Founding Fathers led him to launch the Frederick Douglass Republican Movement (FDR). FDRs is a grassroots initiative to: enlighten, educate, empower, and equip its members based on the Frederick Douglass Republican Methodology–a unique and powerfully effective strategy to: (1) Re-ignite America’s passion for Liberty; (2) Help the Republican Party recapture its political distinction; (3) Save the souls of the politically lost; (4) Promote racial unity; (5) Create an atmosphere for political dialogue without the accusation of racism or Uncle Tomism; and (6) Trump the race card.

Vermont Daily Chronicle first heard of Smith’s visit to Vermont from conservative commentator Kathy Wagner of Sandgate.

“K. Carl Smith is a man who follows the role model of Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass started out as a slave, was horribly treated for years, but kept his spirit and will and was determined to become master of his own life,” Wagner said. “He eventually broke out of servitude and through education achieved great success. He became an orator, a businessman, and a writer – a role model for all.”

She believes it’s vital that parents know and understand the CRT curriculum being presented in schools.

“Those who are injecting this curriculum into our schools and universities claim that inherent racism and white supremacy are defining elements of our society,” Wagner said. “They want to divide us into oppressors and oppressed. CRT insists that whites have unfair advantage, ‘privilege’, over people of color. People of color are deemed to be victims and that the deck is stacked against them.”

“Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement made great progress after challenging all people to judge someone based on their character and not the color of their skin. After this movement permeated the country, we have made positive change and greatly reduced discriminatory practices. CRT would take us BACK to segregation and racial bias, which encourages resentment and victimhood,” Wagner said. “White students should accept shame for something they had nothing to do with. Aren’t such teachings of blame and negativity detrimental to children’s development? Won’t they cause many adverse effects?”
