Bean: the Legislature is coming for your Zyns

Tucker Carlson, Phil Scott and other over-30 types ask: what the heck is a Zyn?

By Paul Bean

They don’t want you packing upper-deckskis. They don’t want you enjoying a zynachinno on a Sunday morning. A little Zynbabwe on your way to work? FORBIDDEN!

At this point some of you might be wondering… Paul what on earth are you talking about?

“Zyn” has become a popular “nicotine delivery device” across the United States as an alternative to vaping, cigarette smoking, and chewing tobacco. They are similar to tobacco pouches, however the “zyngrediants” are just a little different.

Zyn has become somewhat of a cultural phenomenon within conservative circles including a major advocate for the product, Tucker Carlson. On the “Full Send Podcast” hosted by “The Nelk Boys” Tucker refrained “Zyn is not a Sin.”

However, according to the Vermont Legislature Zyn actually IS a sin.

S.18 is a Bill that would ban the sale of flavored tobacco products and e-cigarettes. It has passed the Senate and yesterday, it passed the all-important Second Reading in the House. After likely approval on Third Reading today, it will go back to the Senate for approval again – because the House added to the Senate bill a ban on Zyn.

In a time where the state desperately needs tax revenues from any source it can get it from, why is the supermajority actively seeking ways to cut down on revenue? Not to mention that this bill won’t stop anyone from getting the products they want. You can still buy these products online and that’s what people are already doing…. Or you can do another thing a lot of people are already doing to avoid sales tax: drive to New Hampshire.

All this is going to do is hurt small businesses in Vermont and decrease the tax revenue, which we desperately need.

Why? So we can once again, pat ourselves on the back and feel like heroes? It’s time to get our priorities straight.

And to the Supermajority-

WHY do you want to ruin everything that is amazing in this world? WHY do you have to take everything that is cool and fun and enjoyable, and make it not that way?

For the record I am not an avid “Zynner” (they hurt my tummy) but if wanted to become one I should have the right to without the Government ruining it for me.

The war on Zyns has only begun..

I already told you they’re coming for your right to hunt. And your ability to afford to buy a home. Next they’re coming for your zyns… and what’s next – telling you you’re not allowed to own a gas-burning TRUCK? (Oh, right...).

  1. You’re young enough to not have seen this coming…government up in my bidness… something Americans have gone to war and emigrated to avoid and get away from. But here we are: full on fascism built by engineers and mega-corps who own the government, and protected by the public:private loophole so their machinations are invisible to us…until they come out of the shadows and start legislating their ‘preferences’ over our rights…
Addiction to tobacco is a bad. Its a vice for a reason. But again, like gun control, attacking the inanimate THING and blaming that, instead of the weilder of said object, is to pass the buck, and never ever addresses the primary issue: do no harm.
Addicts have no control over that. Addiction means you spend your last dollar on a pack, or a chew or a vape…or heroin/coke/meth/fentanyl, or alcohol, or sugar (sugar addiction is far worse than anything else as it actually leads to other addictions in reality)…
We’ve had years to just say no to this trend of up in my bidness government…but …we yawned and switched channels, or gaslighted the messenger.
Now… the addictions of this society are coming home to roost: control the THING not the addictive behavior …and make mucho mullah along the way.
The devil’s in the details, always.

  2. Nicotine addiction is nicotine addiction. ADDICTION is addiction. Politics don’t effect that.

    • Don’t we have a right to choose to be addicted? How about we ban internet pornography? If we’re going to be banning stuff, that one is by far the most harmful one.

  3. “S.18 is a Bill that would ban the sale of flavored tobacco products and e-cigarettes.” There is a UVM medical professional performing a public service announcement on repeated overplay – it’s about health….LOL! Interesting, they don’t address the “twisted teas,” “apple ciders,” or numerous other fruity flavored, sweet, juice-like alcoholic beverages. They tried to outlaw cigarettes, but the tobacco lobby in the South is too powerful. They settled for warnings. They legalize candy cannabis, but you can’t vape grape fog! No wonder Vermont is the laughing stock of the nation.

  4. The idea that the state should be selling a highly addictive product because it ‘desperately’ needs the tax revenue is disgusting. Because that’s what Zyn is, a highly addictive product. If we follow that reasoning, the state should be peddling any and all of the addictive drugs they can lay their hands on. Just imagine the tax revenue the state could generate by selling cocaine, heroine, meth, drug-laced pot and pills of every description to whomever wanted it.

Some people think we should be controlling addictive behavior rather than the drugs that cause that behavior. To that I say “Huh??” Controlling the cause of that behavior strikes at the very root of the problem and it’s pretty effective. It’s pretty damned hard to get addicted to something you can’t get your hands on.

We know that making addictive products harder to get works. Cigarette use has dropped a whopping 68% among adults and teens since 1991. Why? Because of the constant ads against smoking and because teens can’t easily get their hands on them. The two approaches together have proved to be effective.

Pass the ban against flavored tobacco and e-cigarettes. They’re both highly addictive. It’s not a perfect solution but it’s a start and it’ll save lives.

    • So Terry you’d be in favor of banning alcohol?….Including grape flavored wine?…Im guessing you drink wine. It kills millions. Zyn is just nicotine, salt and sugar. Its non carcinogenic. If choosed it can help people quit more dangerous choices like dip, cigarettes or cigars which are tobacco based and thus carcinogenic. Imo banning most anything is UnAmerican. Leave it to the consumers to decide. It feels like there’s an implication that consumers are too dumb to make their own choices.

    • “It’s pretty damned hard to get addicted to something you can’t get your hands on.” As a minor in the early 1980’s, I could get my hands on just about anything that was deemed illegal and harmful. Nancy Regan’s campaign of “just say no” meant yes, yes, yes to the anti-authority generation. We learned it from the hippie, grass puffing, LSD popping, free-love generation before us. The generations following seem to have no problem getting what is deemed harmful and addiction issues are out of control now. The Legislature and UVM are stooges for the WHO, WEF, and IMF. They care about the health of minors and young adults? Is that why they promote chemical sterilization and forced vaccinations?
