By Guy Page

Paul Bean of Northfield has been named the Social Media Director for the Vermont Daily Chronicle.
Bean will also report news for the Burlington Daily News, including covering the City Council.
Raised in Northfield, Bean graduated from the University of Vermont in 2021 with a degree in public communications. In 2022 he was the top-vote getter among the GOP nominees for the Washington seat in the Vermont Senate, finishing fourth in a three-seat race. Last year he worked in the commercial printing industry. He’s also spokesman for the environmental organization, Our Geoengineering Age.
When I was Paul’s age, the newsroom I worked in still used manual typewriters. No joke. The Chronicle needs someone who grew up on social media, studied its use in college, and has been creating it ever since. That’s Paul.
Our daily views started jumping off the charts within just 24 hours of Paul’s first efforts to create a more robust social media presence.
“If you want to help grow the audience of the Vermont Daily Chronicle, it has never been easier. Please, go follow us on social media. Like our pages, share our content, interact with us,” Paul wrote in an email letter to his many friends and campaign supporters. “It is our goal to build a larger audience and social media presence. We need our subscribers’ help.”
As your publisher, I might add – no, I must add – that Paul’s vital help doesn’t come for free. If you’ve never supported VDC, now is most definitely the time. If you wish to increase your support with a $ 9 monthly contribution or $108 annual Sustaining Subscriber contribution, now would be a great time, too. Checks may be emailed to Vermont Daily Chronicle, P O. Box 1547, Montpelier, VT 05641.
“I truly could not be more thankful for the opportunity to work with Guy Page and his team, and to help take this online media to the next level,” Bean said.

Thanks for the heads up about Paul Bean and VDC’s social media presence! I’ve seen an occasional video appear on YouTube and thought that was great, but this should extend your reach.
Great to see! Paul, you have to help Vermonters understand what is really going on in out state as most of the other media is not.
Congratulations Mr. Bean.
Good to see you here, Paul. Among other memories, I remember standing by the roadside waving to passers-by with you and others during the election season. Congratulations.
Good “news!”
Nice!
Maybe you can go over VDC articles in a podcast and take local callers/chatters on the new WDEV radio stations handsome fella…
This seem like a significant step forward for more clear thinking un-biased coverage. Thank you for stepping forward. Optimistic anticipation coming your way. Good move VDC.
Congratulations, Paul! I enjoy your tweets on Twitter/posts on X. I’m a former columnist, and like most people in my immediate family, I’ve worked in the public sector (formerly an officer of a government-funded think tank in Boston). You might enjoy my new book, which concerns my cousin U.S. Senator Walsh, Governor of Massachusetts and subsequently the longest-serving Massachusetts senator until Ted Kennedy. His story is a cautionary tale about going up against corruption, especially of the “D” variety. “The Third Hill”: https://www.lulu.com/shop/ellin-anderson/the-third-hill/paperback/product-q9evrr.html?q=The+Third+Hill&page=1&pageSize=4
