A second-degree murder attempt in Burlington on Monday may have involved brass knuckles and a knife.
The report states that they got a call for the incident at about 8 AM. It states, “officers with the Burlington Police Department responded to the south end of Battery Park for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, investigation determined a male suspect assaulted an individual who received life-threatening injuries.”
The Burlington Fire Department was able to get the victim to the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Police arrested Da’rel Shandrea Clark, 29, of Winooski shortly before noon in Battery Park. There may have been deadly weapons involved.
The report states, “While taking Clark into custody, officers found brass knuckles and a folding knife on his person. Clark was lodged and held without bail.”
It concludes that anyone with more information should contact the BPD at (802) 658-2704.
In 2022, the city saw a high mark of five homicides that year. The latest chief’s report from the BPD does not mention homicides for this year. There are currently 37 aggravated assaults as of that report, the same amount as there were in 2022.

But, but, but the strength & beauty of Winooski & Springfield & Burlington is their diversity!
VT makes Lewiston & Portland ME look amateurish!
Montpelier, St. Johnsbury, Lyndonville, Rutland, Bennington, Brattleboro, Newport, including areas close, etc.
Can’t forget East Overshoe, two buckles down from Snowville (East Braintree) on RT 12.
As groomer Marina Bron, formerly Anthony Teski tried to get me to believe, “diversity” is about race. Never mind the other countless differences inherent in human culture.
Another evening in the ” Cesspool ” known as Burlington, just another diversity member of society roaming the streets……………
Taxpayers in Burlington should push their DEI hired Mayor, to clean up the city from
all the crimes, that are probably due to the drug trade.
Early evening in Burlington, tourists are welcome…………. outstanding !!
CHenry, Burlington mayor is too busy in planning her “free meal” menu
blame it on knife and brass knuckle violence/// just another day at the vermont zoo/// burlington vermont welcomes any and all tourists///
More senseless violence that could have been prevented by just listening to the democrat nominee for VP, Tim Walz who promotes: “common sense legislation that protects the Second Amendment”…oh, never mind.
Do you mean protecting the weapons he carried into war?
It didn’t used to be like this.
Arm oneself 24/7/365 in the VSR. Odds are this perp will be out on the street by 1:00 pm tomorrow.
Obviously it’s early and facts are missing, but strange to not see public officials offer their standard disclaimer that “it was a targeted assault so the general public has nothing to fear”. No, nothing to fear as long as you stay out of public spaces in Burlington in the morning daylight hours, or any other time of the day for that matter. The assaults that take place around bar closing time on the weekend have been standard fare for a while now, but now 8am on a Monday morning…that’s something new in the “vibrant city” run by progressives. Thank you to all who voted for Mayor Emma-Hyphen, the City Council and of course State’s Attorney Sarah George. Bring your kids and the dog out and enjoy your public parks!
I’m guessing that Sarah George will blame the brass knuckles and the knife and want to show compassion to Clark. You know, she and her kind will want to say he is oppressed and should be given a break. She may even put the blame on the victim. People like Clark are why I conceal carry.
Good for you.
Being school is back in session soon, college freshmen coming into town, fall tourism around the corner…there will be many more new choice victims and new drug customers in B-town shortly – prime hunting ground for the predators with no consequences.
Cities have a history of invasive rats. Rats go there for the easy pickings. It’s no secret that liberal/progressive cities are the worst places to live due to the drug and crime culture. Look at Chicago as an example. The blacks keep voting for democrats and the city is overrun with crime, gun violence and gangs. A typical weekend will have 100 shootings with some death resulting. Burlington has all the makings of a mini-Chicago if left to the progressives. The people who vote for these liberal (woke) politicians are either very ignorant or they refuse to admit that their ideology has failed, so they continue to vote for chaos, crime and all the calamity that follows. Reasonable people who can still think on their own should stay away from Burlington. Let it rot from the inside until it is totally uninhabitable. If the taxpayers and voters of the city can’t see what they have voted for, let them suffer in their decisions and let the city devolve into madness without your financial support. Eventually, all the cities will fail. The whole idea of diversity sounds good, but diversity doesn’t differentiate between good and bad or evil diversity. Until Burlington voters demand the authorities to deal with the bad, the mentally ill and the evil, I will no longer go to Burlington. There is nothing there that I can’t purchase somewhere else. Let it rot!
I don’t know, I think victim blaming is a little due in this case. If I see someone with a face like that anywhere in my surroundings, I’m getting the hell out of there.
