Dalton Kraft, 29

Vermont State Police have arrested a Newbury man in connection with Sunday’s armed robbery at a Lyndon gas station, following tips from the public that led to a swift resolution of the case.

Dalton Kraft, 29, was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop in St. Johnsbury on Wednesday, January 8. He is alleged to be the man who robbed the Mobil Mart on Broad Street while wielding a knife on January 5.

Surveillance footage from the incident showed a suspect, now believed to be Kraft, wearing tan-colored shoes and coat with a light-colored bandana concealing his face. The suspect was seen fleeing in a light-colored sedan driven by another individual.

Kraft has been charged as a habitual offender, with authorities noting three prior felony convictions on his record. He is currently being held without bail at the Northeast Correctional Complex.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court’s Criminal Division in St. Johnsbury on Thursday, January 9, at 1:00 PM to face charges related to the robbery.

Vermont State Police expressed gratitude to community members whose tips aided in the investigation. “These tips greatly assisted with the investigation,” said a police spokesperson.

No injuries were reported during the robbery, which was one of the first such incidents in the area for 2025.
