Armed home invader overpowered

Sustains multiple injuries

A violent altercation at a Milton home on Monday, March 25 led to the arrest of a St. Albans man on multiple charges, including burglary and aggravated assault.

Police say the home was targeted by the suspect, who was also charged with being a person prohibited from possessing firearms.

According to the Milton Police Department, officers were dispatched to 57 Cornelia Court at around 12:38 p.m. following reports of an attempted home invasion with a firearm and a fight in progress.

Upon arrival, they found the individuals involved behind the residence.

Authorities identified the suspect as 37-year-old Quentin Suggs of St. Albans, who had sustained multiple injuries during the incident.

Suggs was taken by Milton Rescue to the UVM Medical Center for treatment. The investigation revealed that Suggs attempted to break into the home while armed with a firearm.

A confrontation ensued between Suggs and the occupants, leading to Suggs being overpowered and detained until law enforcement arrived.

Suggs is facing charges of burglary, aggravated assault, and being a person prohibited from possessing firearms.

He was ordered held without bail and remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections, hospitalized at the UVM Medical Center as he receives treatment for his injuries.

His arraignment won’t be Suggs’ only scheduled court appearance in Vermont this year. In April, he was scheduled to appear, as the defendant, in a child support hearing. He was charged with a DUI in South Burlington four years ago.

An online search shows that 57 Cornelia Court is occupied by a former standout high school athlete now employed as a nurse at UVMMC.

A Milton Police Department Facebook post has elicited 65 comments as of Wednesday morning, with most reading like this one by a former police officer: “Good job Milton P.D. and the home owners! This idiot is lucky all he got was a beat down! Hopefully other bad actors will think twice about coming to Milton!”

St. J man stabbed multiple times – A 32-year-old local man is in stable condition after a stabbing incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday.

The injured man was initially taken to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital before being transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, for further treatment.

Authorities have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are treating the stabbing as an isolated event and believe there is no ongoing danger to the community. The identity of the victim is being withheld as investigations continue and family members are notified.

  1. Vermont needs Castle Doctrine self defense laws since we have a criminal justice system that regards incarceration as obsolete and racist and is obsessed with “root causes and rough upbringing”.

  2. did you notice the problem was taken care of before the cops arrived//// why would a person from st. albans pick a house in milton////

  3. “leading to Suggs being overpowered and detained until law enforcement arrived.”

There was a case recently of a man holding a suspected burglar at gunpoint, calling the police, and being arrested and charged himself. I wonder what happened to that case, and why the different LEO response here. VT has very limited provision for citizen’s arrest.

  4. Hmmm, this character was prohibited from having a gun, and he had one anyway? Who knew that could happen! And why was he prohibited, anyway? I didn’t think DUI or failing to pay child support would cause such a prohibition. What else has this fine upstanding citizen done?

  5. Just waiting for the inevitable release date…nauseating judicial system liberals have created in Vermont. No consequences…no safety/protection for the public.

    • And don’t forget that becca balint and bernie sanders and peter welch along with the rest of the marxists in our country want to take our guns away while they are flooding our country with illegals and criminals…

  6. Time to fix the catch and release system of criminal “justice”!

  7. More citizen justice is being used, to stop the infestation of crime, thanks for helping
    capture this POS…………………………….

  8. I am appalled that VDC could not find a picture from his high school yearbook to post instead of the RACIST mug shot. He was a good boy. A very good boy.

  9. I wonder if this was random or if this home invader knew the residents. Would like to find out more.

  10. The elephant in the room??? 90% of serious crime in Vermont is done by the……..”global majority”. Kidnapping, shootings, sex crimes,(just this week) etc etc etc. I’m not racist, just like MLK and his “content of character” evaluation. When will the far left and black community declare war on this culture problem that’s destroying communities, states, and our country?

  11. What happens after the incident is the real danger. A drawn-out justice system that lets resolution linger. Fear is the objective. The more frightened people become the easier it is to rewrite their values. This is the goal of the great reset. Our medical hippocampus starts to shrink because of anxiety, and we lose cognitive function. Then we become easier to indoctrinate. It’s not coincidence, it’s the plan according to the book by Dr. Michael Nehls. Its called “the indoctrinated brain”. Read the book that connects the dots of why society is unraveling and what we can do to stop it.
