That burning wood smoke you smelled last night and the haze you saw and felt came from forest forest fires, mostly in western North America.

Vermont could have elevated concentrations of fine particle air pollution today due to wildfires in California, Oregon, Quebec and Western Canada, according to an advisory from the EPA.
“Hazy skies, reduced visibility, and the odor of burning wood is likely as the smoke plumes are transported over the region,” states the advisory.

| McNeil plant has lost $30 million over last nine years – McNeil Generating Station in Burlington is also coming under increasing criticism from environmental activists and critics, reports Seven Days. The Burlington Electric Department co-owns and operates the plant. It has lost nearly $30 million over the last nine years. “In winter months when wholesale prices are higher, McNeil can run profitably … but that is not enough to offset its losses during the rest of the year. McNeil sits idle approximately half the year for maintenance or because it’s not profitable to run.” – August 15 Journal-Opinion. |
| ‘(3D) Brass (Knuckle) in Pocket’ – In New Hampshire, police say a Keene man used 3D printed knuckles, similar to brass knuckles, to assault another man last month at the Otter Brook Dam in Roxbury and steal his backpack, the Journal-Opinion reports. Brass knuckles are illegal in New Hampshire, for now. They are also illegal in Vermont. |
GOP candidate endorsed by Green Beret – Republican Congressional candidate for Vermont’s At-Large district Mark Coester has been endorsed by constitutional attorney and retired Lt. Col Green Beret Ivan Raiklin. This endorsement comes after Mark was elected August 13 as the Republican nominee for Congress.
Mark gave the following statement on this endorsement: “I am grateful to have the support of Lt. Col Raiklin as I continue this campaign to get Vermont back on track. Our veterans and members of our United States Armed Forces have been the hardest hit by the failed policies of the current administration that has been hurting Vermonters for too long. His background as a constitutional attorney also means a great deal as someone who is fighting to restore civic engagement and understanding.”

fires in canada is now a weather warfare event every year/////
Tell me, how can Vermont be sued for not meeting its air quality goals with this going on?
The Canadian wildfires are due to their purposely mismanaged forests! If you turn forests into tinder, you have to expect out of control forest fires! THIS is what they are doing so they can blame it on “global warming”! They aren’t the only ones doing it. Just look around at the mismanaged forest everywhere! Open your eyes. Many of you aren’t old enough to remember what our beautiful forests looked like when they were properly managed. All of those good paying jobs have been abolished and they are letting our forests deteriorate!
They can’t fix potholes, but want you to believe they can fix “global warming!” Wake up America.
Ah, smell that beautiful wood smoke, reminds me of a hot dog on a stick over a wood fire with friends and family, a beer and sparks flying upward. Sure is better than all that methane of cow farts and what comes out of Montpelier and putting water on the fire pit.
It smells like burning tires again. I would think wood smoke would be dry, too, not humid.
What about the 3/4″ raindrops that fell for a few minutes last weekend followed by the strong odor of chemicals? Where did that come from?
“Sensitive groups” LOL! Now, compare the carbon emissions from these natural wildfires in Canada and Western USA to the carbon released burning fossil fuels in modern, efficient devices. The answer is that mother nature produces many orders of magnitude more CO2 than mankind does by burning fossil fuels. Even if you remove these fires from the equation, the bacteria that decomposes old growth plants and animals produce many orders of magnitude more CO2. “Carbon Footprint” that into your skull and think about it for a few minutes.
