The Vermont Emergency Board approved a $15.3 million transfer of state funds into heating fuel assistance and crisis fuel programs Friday, citing sharp increases in oil and kerosene prices. The move doubles crisis fuel capacity from about 2,400 to 4,800 households and adds $500,000 for program administration. Staff told the board that any additional federal heating aid Vermont receives would reimburse the state account rather than change what households get. Watch the meeting.
