Last week H. Brooke Paige withdrew from several statewide offices to make room on the ballot for the Vermont Republican Party to appoint three new names to the November ballot.
State Treasurer candidate:
Lynn LaFleur is a CPA who owns an accounting practice where she has served many Vermont businesses, especially in Lamoille County as well as companies operating in other states.
State Auditor candidate:
Ivar Kronick lives in Poultney and has a broad range of business experience including running his own company for nearly 15 years. Kronick now works in the accounting department of a large international manufacturer based in Vermont and has experience as the point person for the company’s financial audits and the only auditor candidate with this kind of experience.
Attorney General candidate:
Ed Kemon has extensive experience in the private sector with many business start ups. He supervised legal teams in negotiations with a Canadian company to provide encryption technology for military use. After his tenure as adjunct faculty at George Mason University, he served as an elections supervisor in Fairfaix County, VA where he adjudicated disputes between lawyers of both parties to ensure that newly sworn-in citizens who provided proper documentation were not prevented from casting their first ballot.
Secretary of State candidate:
H. Brooke Paige will continue as the Republican candidate for Secretary of State and fight for important reforms related to ballot access and ensuring that Vermont’s election are run in accordance with our constitution and best practices.

In my youth, I and my family were all Democrats. I will vote for these Republicans now.
Glad Brooke Paige, who will never be elected, stepped aside for some responsible candidates.
Mr. Palmer, regarding your comment “will never be elected”, I beg to differ. He has been elected and appointed in his local community many times. He’s done more for Vermont on a state-wide level than most, including the current SOS, even though Brooke hasn’t profited a dime from his efforts nor taken one penny out of tax payer pockets.
I say this out loud only because the current “elected official SOS” disregards moral standards and uses tax payer funds to publish things that ought be considered political propaganda and hands them out as if they were campaign material. [that’s another entire story, sorry to digress…]
I believe H. Brooke Paige is the best qualified candidate. If people can look past the “D” and “R” on the ballot, and look past their own bigotry, and really dig down and consider basic principles and, I think Brooke would win as Secretary of State by a landslide.
Or Maybe I expect too much out of my fellow Vermonters. It used to be we believed in a “Live and Let Live” attitude. We used to believe in a Liberal form of government, where the government was a disregarded entity controlled by the people, for the people.
Today, the people are disregarded. The Progressive Democrats take whatever they desire from the people. This will not last.
