A contestant in the Major League Fishing tournament last month on Lake Champlain was caught without a fishing license, MLF officials revealed late Wednesday.
Chad Mrazek failed to apply for a Vermont permit before the league’s final event of the season, the organization reports.
As a result Mrazek has been disqualified for competing without a valid Vermont fishing license.
The $10,000 he won for placing in the tournament has been revoked and awarded to a different competitor, Brian Carter of BassCast reported.
Pro Circuit rules state contestants must have a fishing license for the waters they fish.
Mrazek was cited by Vermont fish and game officials for fishing without a license, MLF said.

Cheating? No.
I fail to see how not getting a license would give him an unfair advantage, which is usually what “cheating” is.
Depends of what the organization set the rules as, many events of in different hobbies have a rule of being properly licensed for the activity if the law requires one for that activity. If their rules require a participant to be licensed than it is cheating
He did have it unfair advantage.
By fishing without a license he was able to include that first day’s catch in the total three-day aggregate so yes, it’s cheating.
Unfortunately, he did have an unfair advantage. Everyone else as far we know had a valid fishing permit / license. People spend a lot of money to partake in these contests. The least this guy could have done was to not break the very simple law requirement by the sponsor.
