Police and first responders are at Smugglers Notch Resort in Jeffersonville on Monday after a vehicle crashed into a swimming pool earlier this afternoon, according to a breaking news report on News 5.
State police confirmed that at 3:30 PM they received the report of a single vehicle crash on Mogul Mouse Drive at Smuggler’s Notch Resort in the town of Cambridge. Upon arrival, Troopers found a vehicle had driven through a fence surrounding a pool and had become stuck in the pool. Notch Road Auto tow service was contacted and was able to remove the vehicle from the pool.
Two individuals in the car suffered minor injuries. Due to their age, no further information is available, state police said.
According to a story by on the scene reporter Sophia Falbo and Digital Content Manager Michael Cusanelli, a Vermont State Police trooper was seen placing a person in handcuffs and putting them in the back of a cruiser.
The report, which includes extensive video also captured on YouTube, says that a sport utility vehicle crashed into a swimming pool, sending guests scrambling but causing no serious injuries, according to resort officials.
The resort’s chief marketing manager told News 5 that people were in the pool when the dark blue SUV drove through a fence and plunged into the water. Despite the dramatic crash, no serious injuries were reported. The driver also was able to get out of the vehicle safely.
Photos from the scene showed the SUV completely submerged in the pool, with sections of the surrounding fence destroyed where the vehicle entered the water.
By Monday afternoon, emergency crews had removed the SUV from the pool using a crane before loading it onto a flatbed truck for transport.
The circumstances that led to the crash were not immediately clear, and authorities had not released additional information about what caused the vehicle to enter the pool. The incident remains under investigation.

Was it Inspector Clouseau from the Pink Panther movies?
Another story I read reported that there were several children in the pool when the car crashed the gate and went in. The car reportedly pushed one nine year-old boy under the water, and he suffered a concussion. Praise God none of them were injured any worse or killed.
