Pentagon directs National Guard troops in D.C. to start patrolling with guns | 22 Aug 2025 | Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Friday directed the National Guard troops who are patrolling in Washington, D.C., to start carrying firearms, though it is not clear when the order will go into effect. The Pentagon has not commented on the reason for the change, but it comes as the Trump administration concentrates on reducing crime in the nation’s capital. President Donald Trump declared a “crime crisis” in the district earlier this month and called up 800 D.C. National Guard troops. Federal investigators went to Bolton’s house in Bethesda, Md., at 7 a.m. in an investigation ordered by FBI Director Kash Patel, a Trump administration official told The Post. Agents later went to Bolton’s office in downtown D.C., but did not enter until a judge signed a warrant for that location late Friday morning. “NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission,” Patel said in a cryptic post to X shortly after the raid began.

He made the comments in a Facebook post on Thursday after phone calls with Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar and Serbia’s top diplomat, Marko Duric. According to Szijjarto, they agreed to strengthen their stance on sovereignty and pledged mutual solidarity amid what they described as growing external pressure. “Brussels has ceased to be a factor in world politics. The fact that Europe has been excluded from the Alaska talks proves it,” he wrote, referring to Friday’s summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the Ukraine conflict.

She noted the structure is already hard to climb and near impossible to dig under, but said Trump’s latest measure will help to secure the American border even further… The black paint, in addition to making the wall so hot to the touch that migrants will not be able to grip onto it, will have a dual purpose of protecting the steel from rust.

  1. The Guard should never be deployed into situations where they are not allowed the ability to defend themselves . If they are not allowed that ability, that necessity fails on someone else. (Police, Ice, etc.)

    • …and so unfortunate that most of the inhabitants of DC are essentially prohibited from the defensive use of firearms outside of their home, despite a Supreme Court decision affirming that right.
