he Vermont State Police (VSP) are still actively investigating the tragic death of Honoree Fleming, which happened on a bikepath in Castleton in October 2023. Thursday, August 7 the VSP issued a press release to clear up some confusion caused by recent news stories.

Some reports have suggested a possible link between Fleming’s case and a high-profile double homicide in Arkansas in which an Oklahoma school teacher, Andrew McGann, has been charged. The VSP says there’s no evidence connecting the two cases, but they’re following their usual process to explore every possible lead.
In the Fleming investigation, detectives regularly check in with other police departments across the country when they hear about crimes that might share similarities with their case. This is a standard part of their work and doesn’t mean they’ve found a definite connection.
For example, after learning about the Arkansas case, where a couple was killed on a hiking trail and a suspect was arrested, VSP reached out to Arkansas police to discuss it. At this point, there’s no known tie between that suspect and Fleming’s case or the state of Vermont.
The VSP is asking anyone with information that could help the investigation to contact their Rutland station at 802-773-9101 or submit an anonymous tip online at https://vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit. They remain committed to finding answers in the Honoree Fleming case.
