A tractor-trailer hauling rolls of paper struck a bridge abutment as it was navigating a sharp curve in the roadway in Wells River on Friday morning.

There were no injuries, but Route 302 just east of Wells River Chevy was closed for a few hours severing a link to New Hampshire.

The crash happened just after 9:30 a.m. on April 25.

According to the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, Nelson Brusley, 39, of Indianapolis, was operating a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia and towing a 53-foot enclosed box trailer that contained large rolls of paper.

Brusley was traveling west on 302. Despite the tight curvature of the roadway, he attempted to avoid entering the opposite travel lane of eastbound traffic when the trailer struck the bridge. He was traveling 20-25 mph at the time of the collision.

The truck and trailer are owned by Arslon LLC, an Illinois trucking company.
