According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Jorge Humberto Moreno Martinez, 34, of Venezuela, has been charged by criminal complaint with being unlawfully present in the United States after having been previously removed by immigration officials.

On January 28, Moreno appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle, who ordered that Moreno be detained.

According to court records, Moreno was previously removed from the United States by immigration officials on November 15, 2016, after he completed a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence following his New York felony conviction for burglary in the second degree. At that time, Moreno was advised and acknowledged that due to his criminal history he was prohibited from entering or attempting to enter the United States. Despite that warning, Moreno re-entered the United States and his presence in the country thereafter was in violation of U.S. law.

Court records also state that when agents from the Department of Homeland Security attempted to arrest Moreno at a parking lot in Williston, on January 27, Moreno fled in a vehicle, hitting three law enforcement vehicles before travelling at more than 100 miles per hour on a busy street before he was apprehended. As he drove, items were discarded from Moreno’s vehicle. Law enforcement recovered some of those items, which tested presumptively positive for cocaine base and cocaine.

The United States Attorney’s Office emphasizes that the complaint contains allegations only and that Moreno is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. Moreno faces up to 20 years’ incarceration if convicted. The actual sentence, however, would be determined by the District Court with guidance from the advisory United States Sentencing Guidelines and the statutory sentencing factors.

  1. Re-entry to the US after removal for criminal reasons is a felony. This is not Biden’s anything-goes, sanctuary utopia any more, and Homan will take care of this vermin.

    • I hope so Rich, but if he is tried in a Vermont Court and prosecuted by Ms. George….

    • And VERMIN he is! How do ya like them apples, Charity Clarke? Now be nice and say Adios.

  2. So, why do we jail the illegal immigrants here in the US instead of deporting them right away? He got 3 years of free housing, food, etc. In the US. Doesn’t make any sense.

    • Yea, I’ve always said the U.S. should work out a deal with Turkey to incarcerate criminals.

    • If we deport Jorge, he just comes back in as Manuel. This guy needs to be held up as an example and spent the rest of his days on the sunny island of Cuba, at Guantanamo Bay.

  3. A perfect example of a criminal illegal that should be turned over to ICE + Sara George = another chance for someone that should be bunking at GITMO, but will probably get a chance at continuing a life of crime .

    • Sara George won’t be able to save him, he should be being prosecuted by the U.S. District Attorney, not a Vermont State’s Attorney.

  4. Jorge Humberto Moreno Martinez, besides being a criminal, he is persistent, and it goes to show he has no respect for our laws or our country hopefully, his new home will be GITMO !!

  5. Williston.. shocking. Just another example of what happens when progressives are in power.

  6. Looks like this tourist is an agent for the auto repair business. JUST ANOTHER DAY AT THE VERMONT ZOO.

  7. “Moreno fled in a vehicle, hitting three law enforcement vehicles before travelling at more than 100 miles per hour on a busy street before he was apprehended. How will Criminal Champion Charity handle this one? Figure she will call these “alleged” charges and blame the authorities for striking fear into this poor Venezuelan with a criminal prison record who illegally returned to Vt in defiance of law, who simply was fleeing for his life from the federal gestapo. And of course, Snowflake mayor Stanak is complicit by ordering the Burlington police not to assist any ICE actions.
We won’t be surprised if all he gets is a traffic ticket for speeding, and a reprimand issued against our honest, diligent, and efficient law enforcement men and women.

  8. Really, we’re going to support this scumbag in prison for how many years paid for by the US taxpayers? How about we do an air drop over Venezuela!

  9. The thing I wonder about is that sooner or later Trump is going to come down like a ton of bricks on sanctuary states and cities. I predict he is going to give them an offer they can’t refuse. But what? Hey, Hochul, Scott, Pritzker and Newscum get ready to grab your ankles.

  10. Wait, what? This clown should be grabbed immediately by ICE and deported post-haste. There’s no reason to waste time and money on a trial.

And I should add, if Chittenden County or some judge or some DA refuses to release him, ICE should immediately arrest that party and charge them with harboring an illegal.

Sooner or later, you and I both know that some Dem/Prog city or state official is going to force the issue and be made an example of – arrested. Then we’ll see how tough the rest of them are. Talk is cheap.

  11. Weird. Intolerant virtue signaling leftists with their “hate has no home here” lawn signs keep telling us these peaceful people are here to pick strawberries and work on farms.
