Re: Increasing pharmacy closures mean long drives for Vermont residents,
Think outside the box.
I ordered three mundane items on-line late Friday evening last, 12-28-24. They were delivered yesterday, two days later, on Monday, 12-30-24. I didn’t have to drive anywhere. The cost of the items and the delivery was, shall we say, very competitive.
And please don’t tell me about the pitfalls of on-line commerce. There are always pitfalls with ‘disruptive innovation’. We’ve solved, and can solve, those issues as they become apparent…. as if driving for an hour isn’t a pitfall.
Let’s see. One hour of driving at 35 mph equals 35 miles. At 55 cents per mile for gas and car depreciation, that’s about $20. If your time is worth anything, that’s another $18. Assuming, of course, that you can drive. Not to mention that by not having to drive you can spend your time on more productive projects. So, it costs you at least $40 just to make the trip.
Consider why these pharmacies are closing in the first place. How much of the cost of your prescriptions is driven by pharmacy overhead? Add that to the $40 cost of travel for each trip. Then consider on-line vendors like The Wellness Company, Amazon Pharmacy, Express Scripts Pharmacy, Costco Pharmacy, and dozens of others.
In other words, the pharmacy market is changing. And if anyone thinks the Vermont legislature knows what’s best for us… well, just look at all the other dumb and outrageously expensive stuff they’ve been doing lately.
CVS and Walgreens needed to shut down, as they dispense the chemical abortion pill. Thank God! They refused to stop dispensing it, and they are suffering the consequences now of valuing profits over human life.
Beside the fact that it kills developing preborn babies by slowly starving them to death in their mother’s wombs, the horrors wrought on unsuspecting girls and women by the chemical abortion pill are unspeakable.
