A Burlington facing multiple assault charges for allegedly beating another man unconscious during a robbery was released by a Vermont judge to his mother last week. The man has 35 run-ins with law enforcement, 11 of them violent incidents, police say.

Abdirahman Mohammed, 22, is accused of attacking – along with four others – a couple in downtown Burlington back in April. He allegedly punched and kicked the victim 22 times while he was down, rendering him unconscious. More than $2,000 in items were stolen from the victim and his girlfriend, who was also injured.

Mohammed was arrested and jailed in October. Friday December 27, Vermont Superior Court Judge David Fenster decided to release him.

VDC has noted that Mohammed has been on the radar of law enforcement and the judicial system many times. It was reported in October, “Since 2020, Mohammed has been involved in 35 incidents; 11 of them being violent assaults/incidents, 2 of them being homicides, and multiple being firearms related.”

  1. Well, his mom did such a good job raising him, so why should we doubt her ability to keep him under supervision? When we benefit greatly from accepting African immigrants like Elon Musk who contribute immensely to our society, I guess we also have to expect a few rotten apples in the bunch…like Rep. Ilhan Omar and Abdirahman.

    • I think you should go find out who Elon musk really is… Then figure out how much he’s not contributed to society…

    • Elon is a vampire squid who was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple. So sad to see the MAGA’s defend the billionaire class like I showed yesterday.

  2. This seems ludicrous. There has to be more to this story or that judge should be disbarred.

The judge is literally endangering the public and this man by not putting him behind bars. There must be consequences for this young man’s continuing violent actions and staying with Mommy should never be one of them.

  3. I could understand a fourteen or fifteen year old released to his mother, but a twenty two year old man? I guess if he attacked someone like a Pelosi he’d be held responsible for his actions.

  4. If this catch and release continues some day an intended victim will kill one of these criminals and end up being arrested when the fault will belong squarely on the shoulders of a judge or state’s attorney.

  5. Yes, this little darling is being released to his mother, and by the sounds of things, she’s done a fine job so far. The mom is another DEI Burlington employee …………..

  6. This right here is the reason for the second amendment. The outcome could have been much different if this couple had taken advantage of their second amendment rights. It makes me wonder if this couple had a Harris/Walz sign on their front lawn? It would have been a “dead” giveaway…

  7. A well armed, trained (mentally and mechanically) bystander or one of the victims could have ended that incident once and for all, and it would have been a nearly forgotten footnote in history by now. Instead the perp (and what of the other perps, were they identified? caught? jailed?) is now on house arrest and told to be a good boy and listen to his mama (which he obviously hasn’t heretofore), just waiting for him make the choice to decide being a hood boy is better than good boy, maybe next time he’ll meet citizen justice…there’s no plea deal for that!

    • It sounds as if there is an “AN OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPROVEMENT WITH RESPECT TO THE CATCH AND RELEASE JUSTICE SYSTEM” !

Perhaps our legislators could be persuaded to pursue that goal.

    • Maybe the judge released Little Mo knowing that the punk will soon be back on the street, harassing the wrong person, and end up in the morgue.

    • If that happens, his Mommy will get a legal-aide lawyer to pay the family millions for the martyrdom of Mohammed and keep the incarcerated 2A exercising US citizen in jail for life.

  8. He commits this many violent crimes but gets a pass again and again because that’s what Vermont has turned into. Who and what he is trumps the rights of all other Vermont citizens.
Each time you think it can’t get any worse, it does.

  9. Just heard on WCAX evening news (6:00pm, 12-30-24) “… that South Burlington police say early Monday morning, William Cole, 38, of Johnson, broke into the mall (University Mall) and caused thousands of dollars in damage to stores and a restaurant…” He also set a fire inside the mall. He was arrested, but was later released by a judge in Burlington–judge David Fenster–the same judge who released the Mohammed highlighted in this report. I seriously don’t think this judge is working for Vermonters. Wonder if Mr. Cole was released to the custody of his mother…

  10. His picture should be posted in the University mall. A good four foot by four foot photo and pictures of the damage would be a interesting site to view. How much money did the mall loose with a one day shutdown????

  11. This has to stop. If I lived in Burlington I would organize protests at the court

  12. Obviously someone has to get killed before they lock him up. This Judge must go.

  13. This judge is a perfect example of why the criminal justice system is such a disaster. We all suffer for the action (or inaction) of disgraceful and incompetent prosecutors and judges. There must be a way to strip them of power and send them packing. Is tarring and feathering still an option?
