With just a week to go, one-third of mailed ballots returned
by Guy Page
Seven days before Election Day November 5, a third of Vermont voters had already voted, according to an interactive map prepared by the UVM Center for Community News.
The towns with the best reported voter turnout so far are Charlotte in Chittenden County, and Calais in Washington County, with 44% already recorded, according to the map. The statistics reflect the percentage of returned ballots compared to the number of ballots mailed out. Other leading towns trailing with 43% returned include:
3. Norwich, a Dartmouth College ‘bedroom town’ in Windsor County, 43%;
4. Pomfret, Norwich’s neighbor in Windsor County, 43%;
5. Weston, an afluent destination community in southern Windsor County.
Except for Weston, which is represented by independent Kelly Pajala (not seeking re-election), All four top-return towns are ‘deep blue’ towns that reliably elect Democrat legislators.
“UVM Center for Community News data visualization engineer Ben Cooley pulled together figures from the Office of the Vermont Secretary of State to track the number and percent of registered voters in each town whose ballots have been received and tallied,” according to a Community News Service news report.
The lowest turnout town is Sandgate (13%), a small Bennington County town on the New York border. Sandgate voted for 58-37% for Biden over Trump in 2020, above the GOP candidate’s 31% statewide average.

LOL, Vermont is soooooooooooo blue that the results of national consequence are pre-ordained. Thank goodness the state’s impact is small.
I usually vote in person. Voting has become so important to me that I consider election day a holiday with the act of voting in person as almost ceremonial. Can’t get myself to mail it in or hand it in early.
And why would this matter in ” Ultra Blue ” Vermont, this only matters if they think that the political landscape is changing………………..Hopefully !!
Vermont Carpetbagger Blue, and you let it happen !!
Back when the Democratic party in Vermont actually had some Godly morals (I am referring to prior to the early 1960’s ). Then Vermont was primarily a RED conservative state. This was long before a socialist party (Progressive) even existed with any following. Today, now that the blue candidates have nothing to do with moral standards, Vermonters vote for them like they are the best solution since Grandma’s hot apple pie. When they fail Vermonters, when the cost of living in Vermont is designed for only the rich, yet they vote them back into office. That is what the lack of common sense looks like! Then the same blue voting people complain because paying property taxes and fuel to heat homes are beyond reasonable prices in Vermont.
Pre 1960 the Democrats were very conservative. JFK would be booed out of the Democrat party today as was his Nephew
According to some studies, Vermont is one of the most educated states.Maybe that’s why the voting populace votes blue.
Karen Ryder, I work with too many folks with higher degrees. All you need to achieve those is time and money; brainpower is not a requirement.
@Karen It’s true! You can’t even get passing grades in college without basically becoming a Red Guard activist for race & gender communism. The smart folks are actually avoiding it as much as possible, especially the men. A high rate of education would definitely explain Vermont’s peculiar voting habits.
According to those how fix the vote, they don’t garner votes in red areas, looking to defeat, they get most of the extra ballots from the blue areas, areas people wouldn’t think to look because they expect the area to be blue. Perhaps they are doing some serious harvesting through out new england….
LOL! For those who think voting matters anymore search the internet for the very recent story where some interesting election results were ‘accidently’ displayed on an abc affiliate in Pennsylvania.
I’ll see if the link can go through.

VOTE BY MAIL = FRAUD!
FBI investigating ballot boxes lit on fire in Oregon and/or Washington? Many reports of shenanigans going on in Pennsylvania (busload of non-english speaking people allowed to cut the line of locals waiting to vote? Closing early voting stations mid-afternoon?) Supreme Court overturned VA appeals court to allow purged voters back onto voter rolls? Nevada allowed three extra days to count ballots?
The regime will not go down without cheating or rioting before or after November 5th. Acceptance and allowance of election shenanigans and denial of grieveances to be heard only happened since 2020. Before, it was one day and done. The USA – “spreading of freedom and democracy around the world” (Junior Bush.) Not here anymore – the only thing being spread here is copious amounts of bull*&%$ and lawlessness.
Mail in voting is fraud, folks. Plain and simple. All those extra ballots floating around in areas with high turnover due especially to students, and all they have to do to stop actual garbage Nazis and Orange Hitlar is send ’em in. And who’s to say that Karen in the town clerk’s office even runs your ballot through the machine that may or may not even tally your vote? Until we go back to paper ballots, in your local town hall, counted by hand in full public view, on ONE actual election day, we have no way of knowing if the votes are accurate. Which 100% means that they aren’t.
