A high risk sex offender is likely to live in Winooski after he is released from prison tomorrow after 23 years behind bars, police say.

Burlington police report that on Wednesday, November 6, Alan Ziesemer, a high-risk sex offender convicted of multiple convictions for sexually assaulting young children decades apart, will be released from Northwest State Correctional Facility and will be supervised by Burlington Probation & Parole.

In 2001 Ziesemer sexually assaulted a 6-year- old female neighbor, whom he also physically assaulted when she resisted his actions. At the time of his  2001 sex offense, Ziesemer was already a convicted sexual offender stemming from his conviction of a 1980 sexual assault of a 13-year-old male in his home state of New Jersey.

“It is worth noting that the convictions stem from crimes that were (21) years apart and Mr. Ziesemer has currently been incarcerated for (23) years,” Burlington police said. “Currently, Mr. Ziesemer has plans to take up residency in the City of Winooski.”

Officials with the Vermont Department of Corrections indicate, compared to other incarcerated offenders, Mr. Ziesemer’s risk of sexual recidivism is in the High-risk category.

“Based on his sexual interests and offending history, if he were to sexually re-offend, his victim(s) would likely be minor males and females that are unknown to him,” police said.
