Teen was riding dirt bike when SUV crossed in front of her
A 16-year-old Corinth girl was killed Sunday afternoon in a crash between her dirt bike and an SUV on Richardson Road in Orange, according to Vermont State Police.
Troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to the scene at about 5:17 p.m. on October 5, near the intersection of Emery Road. Police said the crash involved a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek driven by Kyle Hunt, 23, of Washington, and a 2025 Kawasaki KLX140 dirt bike operated by Kaylee Bailey, 16, of Corinth.
According to investigators, Hunt was driving west on Richardson Road when he turned south in front of Bailey, who was traveling east. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing extensive front-end damage to both.
Bailey was found unresponsive at the scene. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead on site. Hunt was not injured.
The weather was clear and the gravel road dry at the time of the crash. Bailey was wearing a helmet, troopers told VDC Monday.
The Vermont State Police said the investigation remains ongoing and no further details were available as of Monday morning.
