All but two votes cast thus far in the 2021-22 session by Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vermont) on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives have addressed the removal of office and/or impeachment of President Donald Trump, according to a review of the Vermont congressman’s voting record on www.clerk.house.gov. In each case he has voted against Trump and with the Democratic majority.
Apart from “housekeeping” votes at the beginning of the 2021-22 session, the two non-Trump-related votes (both yes) were to allow the appointment of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and to require federal government spending to be posted online for transparency purposes.
Welch also has co-sponsored 26 bills, including the censure of two Republican colleagues who defended Trump in the Electoral College vote, reparations for African-Americans, and admitting Washington DC as a state – to be known as Douglass Commonwealth.
