Twister hits town

The National Weather Service survey team confirmed an EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 90 MPH occurred on Thursday, April 16 from 9:15 to 9:18 PM in Williamstown.

No injuries were reported.

According to an NWS Burlington office Facebook post, the path of the tornado was .43 miles and 100 yards wide. It sheared tree tops and damaged an old sugarhouse and an abandoned farm building off Chelsea Road.

Damage continued as the twister moved east to a neighborhood on Lila’s Way. Golfball sized hail was reported hitting homes on Baptist Street.
