Socialists to picket Barre pregnancy center

Supporters of the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Central Vermont in Barre are encouraged to pray for the center during the planned picket by a socialist organization next week, Director Cindy Tabor said in a recent newsletter.

“We need your prayers, we need every friend, donor, and church partner to consider praying for us specifically at 5:30 pm Friday, September 30, as there is a planned Informational Picket for outside our Center,” Tabor said. “This protest is planned by the Central Vermont Democratic Socialist America/ Socialist Feminist Working Group. They will be spreading false accusations and furthering the false narrative that PRCs are fake and we exist to stop people from getting abortions with an ‘anti-abortion agenda’. We are accused of misleading vulnerable people to collect data & serve our anti-abortion agenda.”

Here are the facts about Care Net, Tabor said.

The center, supported entirely by private donations and without any government funding, recently performed its 22nd life-affirming ultrasound. “We are thrilled to share 3D/4D technology with our patients,” Tabor said. “We are so proud of our medical team and the life-affirming medical services we provide, along with material and educational services to support her choice.”

Care Net has offered free services valued at $73,650 to date in 2022, and $248,600 of free services in the previous five years.

In 2021, Vermont’s pregnancy resource centers have saved communities $368,325 by offering free medical, educational, and material support services.

In 2021 PRCs in Vermont and New Hampshire combined have saved communities $1,527,475 by offering free medical, educational, and material support services to women and families in need.

Carenet is a medical facility offering medical services by licensed medical professionals, Tabor said. It has served the community since 1993, and offers limited diagnostic ultrasound for confirmation of a viable pregnancy. Carenet also offers information about pregnancy options, including parenting, adoption, and abortion, as well as post-decision support including parenting education and abortion recovery.
