Rowell: Burlington City Council, do your job!

Editor’s note: The following letter was submitted to Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger and members of the city council prior to its Monday night consideration of a resolution linking the shooting of three Palestinian men in November with the Israel-Hamas war. The council declined to pass the resolution.

You were not voted in to give opinions on your limited knowledge of events in other countries. Are you arrogant enough to think Netanyahu gives a rat’s [posterior] what you think about how he should run his justified response to the October 7th attack? No he doesn’t, Your arrogance permits you from knowing that nobody else does either. Trying to pretend you are concerned about the tragic shooting when you really just want to virtue signal on the Israeli/Hamas war is disgusting.

Due to your incredibly incompetent leadership, this city is riddled with crime and drugs, too expensive, needles and graffiti everywhere and what do you spend your time doing? Dividing your constituents and focusing on issues to try to distract them from your leadership failures.

Because you didn’t learn from that last catastrophe when butting your nose into Israel’s business, Monday will be another fiasco. Proving, once again, that you all have no leadership skills and you don’t even learn from your mistakes. You should all resign in disgrace.

Stop dividing us and wasting our time.

Work on lowering taxes, increasing out police force, getting criminals and drug dealers off our streets, clean up the mess you made, sell Memorial to a contractor who will turn it and the YMCA into apartments. These are the things you should be working on but are too incompetent to tackle.

Do your job!
