John Averill of Burlington is running as a write-in candidate for House of Representatives for the newly drawn District Chittenden-17. Incumbent Progressive Emma Mulvaney-Stanak is now on the ballot running unopposed in this race.
Averill is a lifelong Vermonter with many ties to the community. Many know him in his role as servant leader at Ignite Church in Williston.
Averill is a strong opponent of Prop 5/Article 22. He arranges presentations for groups that want to learn more, especially about the vague wording used and the consequences of the injection of this language into the VT Constitution.
The redrawn district includes part of the Old North End, Burlington High School, the Killarney Drive neighborhood, and other New North End streets and waterfront area.
Mulvaney-Stanak, a Barre native and daughter of Barre Diversity and Inclusion committee Joelen Mulvaney, assumed office on January 6, 2021 in Chittenden 6-2 House seat, before the 2022 redistricting. Her current term ends on January 4, 2023. A political science major from Smith College, her career experience includes working as an organizer and founding EM Strategies.
Burlington residents in Chittenden-17 District are urged to write in “John Averill ” for Vermont House Representative.
