According to police, 38-year-old Jennifer Lee of Winooski was driving north on Route 128 in a 2023 Toyota RAV4 when her vehicle crossed the center line into the southbound lane. Lee’s vehicle then struck a 2013 Hyundai Tucson driven by 58-year-old Gretchen Woerner of Milton, who was traveling south.

Dezhong Jiang, 58, of Flushing, N.Y. was driving south in the northbound lane and nearly caused at least one head-on crash before state police got him stopped in Royalton near the exit 3 interchange about 2 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Vermont State Police arrested Erik Fulton, 37, of Royalton, on charges of domestic violence after an incident that started Wednesday night, and ended early Thursday, when police’s special tactical team was called in.

The indictment, returned on February 20, charges the defendants with participation in a sophisticated “Grandparent Scam” that spanned more than 40 states, including Vermont, and targeted elderly victims with false claims that a loved one was jailed and in urgent need of bail money.

The defendant, the nephew of state judge Justin Jiron, admitted he conspired with Theodore “Theo” Bland, 29, of Burlington, who gunned down two people and then concealed evidence about the double homicide in Lowell on Oct. 12, 2023.

Michael A. Wilson, 24, of Burlington was wanted on a state charge of attempted second-degree murder for the shooting outside the Barnes & Noble at 102 Dorset Street, South Burlington Police said.

Yubert Yasiel Lopez-Lopez, 31, of Burlington appears to have been living in Vermont for at least two years despite having been ordered removed from the United States four times over the past 11 years, federal court records show.

tate police say Ladjuan Anthony Guichard, 27, of Dorchester, Massachusetts is wanted on a charge of attempted second-degree murder arising from the shooting of 30-year-old Adam Belliveau on Concord Avenue.

Vermont State Police officers are investigating a suspicious shooting death of a 46-year-old Brandon man over the weekend. The victim, Brian Bailey, was found unresponsive inside his home on Champearl Road shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday, state police said in a news release. Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders, police said in the release.

James D. Nickles Jr., 42, is now facing a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Corey Crooker, 43, of Bradford, according to records in Vermont Superior Court in Chelsea. Judge Daniel Richardson also found probable cause for a felony charge of unauthorized removal and disposal of a body without a state permit and with a misdemeanor count of false information to Vermont State Police.

Detective Sgt. Lyle Decker spoke to a confidential informant (CI) that said he learned “Nickles shot Crooker with 2 shots to the head and a shotgun blast to the chest. The CI said they burned the body and decapitated Crooker’s head,” Merriam wrote.

Maland was fatally shot and a federal investigation is underway after a vehicle stop on Interstate 91 escalated into a deadly exchange of gunfire near the U.S.-Canada border on Monday, January 20.

Fabrice “Savage” Rumama, 21, and Samuel “Smitty” Niyonsenga, 19, are charged with knowingly and intentionally conspiring with others to distribute crack cocaine and more than 40 grams of fentanyl between September and October 2024 in Vermont and elsewhere.
