Breaking: Bray proposes softer version of S.258

This morning Sen. Christopher Bray, D-Addison, has proposed an amendment to S.258 that would restore selection of 14 members of the Fish & Wildlife Board to the governor “with the advice and consent” of the Legislature and would add two new members to be appointed by the Legislature. It also would require the composition of the board to be more “balanced,” defined by Bray as representing the priorities of both licensed and non-licensed users of the outdoors. It also strikes all of the trapping and coyote hunting restrictions in earlier versions of S.258. The Senate is in recess as this is being written; senators opposed to S.258 are expected to weigh in.
