An anonymous postcard critical of incumbent GOP chair Paul Dame’s fundraising record was mailed from Hartford, Connecticut this week and received by Republicans who will be voting in the Saturday, November 8 election.
Photos of both sides of the post card were sent to VDC this morning by a Chittenden County delegate to the state meeting in Burlington on Saturday.. Also, vice-chair candidate Rep. Zachary Harvey of Castleton – also a voting delegate – said he doesn’t know who sent it, but confirmed that he received it as well.
It is not known who sent the bulk-mailed postcard, nor to whom specifically it was sent. The postmark reads Hartford Connecticut, which is home to a USPS regional bulk mailing center.
The front of the post card reads:
“The Vermont GOP can’t run on pennies. Time for more than just change!”
On the flip side, the postcard shows chairman fundraising since 2005 – minus the “Obama era recession.” It notes that Dame raised (in round numbers) only $50,460 last year, compared to about a quarter-million dollars in several two-year periods between 2005-2016.
It also states that as of October this year there’s only $27,183 cash on hand and that since January 1st Dame has been paid $61,939.
The postcard concludes “it is time for a change” and includes a QR code that sends scanners to Federal elections commission government data.
VDC has emailed both Dame and Ingalls to comment on the postcard and will publish their responses when received.
