The U.S. Senate this month confirmed Bertagnolli, a cancer researcher and recent breast cancer survivor. She succeeds Francis Collins, who retired. At her Senate nomination hearing October 18, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Monica Bertagnolli was asked point-blank by Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) if she believes the federal government should “do everything it can to determine the cause of Covid-19.”NIH under Collins made research grants to the EcoHealth Alliance that assisted in gain of function research at the Wuhan, China facility, a June, 2023 General Accounting Office report found.
“Do you believe the federal government should do everything it can to determine the cause of Covid-19, including the possibility that it emerged from a lab that was conducting gain of function research?,” Cassidy asked.
See video for her answer…perhaps best characterized as a mild ‘yes,’ showing little or no desire to initiate an investigation.
