Dear Friends:
I wrote this on notebook paper several months ago. It’s been kicking around my pockets, my office, my briefcase since then. I have been waiting for the right time to publish it.
On October 4, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland not-so-implicitly warned parents complaining about mask mandates and CRT to local school boards that he would sic the FBI on them if they don’t back off. This is part of a pattern of this administration’s contemptuous intent to repress our civil rights. Vaccine mandates for federal employees. Vaccine mandates for businesses of 100 employees or more. Siccing the the IRS on anyone with a bank account or sale of $600 or more. Levying a “global tax” on all corporations doing business outside of the United States.
When I saw Dan Jeffries’ cartoon last week, I realized that now is our Tienemen Square moment. We stand now – peaceful yet firm – or let Washington roll over us. I’m encouraged by Gov. Phil Scott’s frank admission Tuesday that at this point, a mask mandate “won’t get one single person to wear a mask that doesn’t want to wear a mask.” Phil Scott sees what some politicos blinded by Potomac Fever can’t: government fiats are no match for a free, united, determined people.
Sign it, pass it around, change it, if you want. It’s a free country – our Constitution says so.
My Freedom
Constrained only by the Constitution, the Golden Rule, and my conscience,
I will travel when and where I please.
I will choose my own healthcare.
I will say what I want to say.
I will resist any attempt to take away these choices.
I will respect the rights of others.
